Product Description
xThe Lunos OY40 is a 400 mm square LED oyster only 25 mm deep, in black or white — 30 W giving 2,480 lm, with switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K, TRIAC dimmable, IP44.
25 mm deep — the slimmest ceiling fitting in this catalogue. For comparison: the Legero is 29 mm, the Elie 45 mm, the Eltz 80 mm, and most oysters sit between 80 and 120.
At sixteen to one the Lunos reads as a panel set into the ceiling rather than a fitting hung below it. In a room with a standard 2.4-metre ceiling, or under a bulkhead, or in a garage or laundry where headroom is tight, that difference against a conventional oyster is genuinely visible.
IP44 — and it can go where an ordinary oyster cannot. Our page said “Usage: Indoor” while our own product record says Outdoor and Garden. Both are partly right, and the useful answer is the rating:
IP44 is protected against splashing water from any direction. That means the Lunos is suitable for a bathroom outside the shower zone, a laundry, a covered outdoor area, a porch, a carport or an alfresco ceiling — positions the IP20 oysters in this catalogue are ruled out of entirely. It is not rated for a fully exposed soffit taking driving rain.
Square, not round — which is the point of the range
Almost every oyster in this catalogue is a circle. The Lunos is a square, and at 400 mm that reads quite differently: it aligns with the room rather than floating in it, following the lines of a ceiling, a bulkhead, a hallway or a run of joinery. In a rectangular space — a hallway, a laundry, a galley kitchen — a square fitting sits far more comfortably than a disc.
2,480 lumens, and it dims
30 W at 83 lm/W, and the three Lunos sizes run at 86, 90 and 83 lm/W — consistent, so the figures confirm each other.
2,480 lm will light a living room, a large bedroom or a kitchen on its own, and TRIAC dimming on an ordinary wall dimmer means it can also be turned down — which many bright ceiling fittings in this range cannot.
Three colour settings, chosen at installation
3000 K warm for living rooms and bedrooms, 4000 K neutral for general use, 5000 K cool for laundries, garages and workshops. With the dimming, one fitting covers a bright cool working setting and a low warm evening one.
It is Class II — double insulated, no earth required, which is unusual for a ceiling fitting in this catalogue and simplifies the wiring. At 1.6 kg with a 600 mm cable it goes onto a standard fixing. CRI above 80.
The largest of three
Lunos also comes at 230 mm (18 W, 1,550 lm) and 300 mm (24 W, 2,150 lm). All three are 25 mm deep and IP44. Choose on room size: the 400 mm for a living room or large bedroom, the 300 for a bedroom or laundry, the 230 for a hallway, robe or porch.

Do I need an earth?
No — Class II, double insulated, which is unusual for a ceiling fitting here and simplifies the wiring. It is still hard-wired, so a licensed electrician installs it.
Which size should I choose?
On room size. The 400 mm for a living room or large bedroom, the 300 mm for a bedroom or laundry, the 230 mm for a hallway, robe or porch. All three are 25 mm deep and IP44.

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.
