The Lumo is the widest of the black cylinders — ø161 mm across but only 153 mm tall — so it reads as a squat drum rather than a tube. That proportion suits a wall where a tall fitting would look awkward: below a window head, beside a low door, or on a narrow pier where height is scarce. Clear glass shows the globe, and the socket is E27 and replaceable, which is the real reason to choose it: re-lamp it for the price of a globe in a decade, and change the colour temperature whenever you like by changing what you screw in. IP54 decides the position.

Sheltered positions only

IP54 protects against splashing water, not driving rain, so the Lumo belongs under an eave, in a porch or entry recess, under an alfresco roof, or in a carport. Mounted on an exposed facade water eventually reaches the globe cavity, which is a wiring problem as much as a lighting one. Open, rain-facing walls need an IP65 fitting.

• Under an eave below a window head, where a tall cylinder would crowd the opening.
• Covered porches and entry recesses beside a low or wide door.
• Roofed alfresco walls, where the wide drum reads well against brick or timber.
• Narrow covered piers and carport walls with limited vertical space.

Specifying it

HV3694W-BLK runs on 240 V AC — wired straight to mains, no driver required, earthed as a Class I fitting. The E27 globe is replaceable and the fitting takes an E27 globe up to 9 W. That is a hard safety limit: a higher-wattage globe in an enclosed glass drum traps heat, creates a fire risk, and voids the warranty. No other base will fit, so a B22 bayonet or E14 candle globe cannot be adapted in. The supplied family output is 700 lm across 2700K, 3000K, 4000K and 5500K options over a 180° spread, with actual output set by the globe you choose. Aluminium body with clear glass, IP54, IK04. Dimmable if the globe fitted is dimmable. Covered by a 3-year replacement warranty.
