Lasian Floor Lamp

The Lasian FL is a 1,500 mm two-light floor lamp with a fluted resin shade on an iron frame in a walnut-toned finish — two E27 globes to 25 W each, not supplied, on 2 metres of flex.

Two globes on a floor lamp — which is unusual

Most floor lamps in this catalogue carry one globe. The Lasian carries two, at 25 W each, under a 400 mm fluted resin shade.

That matters because of what the shade does: resin is translucent, so a large part of the output goes through it rather than out of the ends. With one globe a shade that size would light unevenly — brighter directly above the source, dimmer at the edges. Two globes fill it, so the whole 400 mm glows evenly, which is the entire effect.

Fluted resin — and what it gives you

The shade is moulded resin with vertical fluting. Because the resin is translucent and the fluting varies its thickness, light comes through in soft vertical bands — so the shade glows with visible structure rather than as a flat panel.

Beside a chair, that means the lamp is an object in its own right when lit, and it still hides the globes completely with no glare at any angle.

1.5 metres tall, 6.1 kilograms

On a 280 mm base. At 6.1 kg the Lasian is the second heaviest floor lamp in this catalogue, after the Hommer's 7.6 kg — and well clear of the Varlin's 4.6 and the Valora's 3.8.

On a 1.5-metre lamp that is whether it stays upright. It will not tip when knocked and will not move when the flex is pulled, which matters with children, dogs or a walkway nearby. It also means you will not be moving it casually.

Part of a three-form range

Lasian comes as floor lamps, table lamps and pendants, all with the same fluted resin. Note that the pendants are white with antique gold where this floor lamp is walnut-toned — the same form language rather than an exact colour match. Ask us which finishes pair if you want them close.
