Klip LED Inground Light CCT 7w 316 Stainless Steel Havit Lighting - HV1831T

The drop-down on this page is not a colour — it is a supply voltage, and the two options are wired differently. The 7 W Klip is sold as HV1831T-12V and HV1831T-240V, the same Ø85 mm stainless-faced uplight in two electrically distinct builds. The 12 V runs from a driver and needs no earth; the 240 V goes to mains and must be earthed. Choosing the wrong one is not a cosmetic mistake.

Which variant you need, and why it matters

The 12 V DC model is Class 3 — no earth required — and must be run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver. Do not connect it directly to 240 V. The 240 V AC model is Class 1, requires an earth, and Havit's own instruction is to connect the earth first, then live and neutral. On the low-voltage model Havit requires the voltage arriving at the fitting to be within ±5% of the rated figure or the warranty is void, so size the driver and the cable run for that, and check the input voltage of every other fitting before sharing a driver. Multiple fittings are wired in parallel.

A narrow beam, which is the other reason to choose this one

The light source is a built-in LED — no globe, no socket, nothing user-replaceable. Havit publishes the output as 570 lm at 3000K, 600 lm at 4000K and 630 lm at 5500K, and note the direction: brightness climbs with colour temperature here, so 5500K is the brightest setting and the warm one is the dimmest. The beam is 38°, much the tightest in the Klip range, where the 10 W and 20 W throw 120°. That makes this the model for lifting a column, a tree trunk, a pier or a narrow rendered face, rather than washing a broad wall. Colour is set on a switch under a sealed cap on the base and leaves the factory on 3000K — set it before the fitting goes into the canister, because the switch is on the underside.

Drainage is a warranty condition, not advice

Havit puts it in writing: adequate drainage must be allowed to prevent fittings from sitting in water for a long period of time, and if no drainage is allowed the warranty will be voided. The drawing asks for a 100 mm space beneath the canister, 100 mm to 150 mm of crushed rock under that, and a slight fall on the finished ground so surface water runs away. The canister must finish level with the ground or the warranty is void. IP67 means the fitting survives temporary immersion; it is not permission to leave it standing in a puddle.

The 316 face, and what it asks of you

The cover is 316 stainless steel over an aluminium body finished black, rated IK10 and trafficable to 1000 kg. Havit asks for regular cleaning on all 316 stainless fittings to stop tea staining forming, and states plainly that tea staining is not covered by warranty; its HV9971 maintenance kit is what it recommends.
