A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
At 20 W the Klip stops being something you slip into a garden bed and becomes a hole you have to plan. The cutout is Ø194 mm with the canister and the face on the surface is Ø210 mm — better than a fifth of a metre of finished paving or lawn. Get that decided before the landscaper pours anything, because retro-fitting it afterwards means breaking ground twice.
Havit's requirement is a warranty term, not a recommendation: adequate drainage must be allowed to prevent fittings from sitting in water for a long period of time, and if no drainage is allowed the warranty will be voided. Below the canister it wants a 100 mm space, and beneath that 100 mm to 150 mm of crushed rock, with a slight fall on the finished ground so surface water runs away from the fitting rather than into it. The canister must finish level with the ground or the warranty is void. So the excavation is deeper than the fitting — allow for the canister, the void and the rock bed together. IP67 means it survives temporary immersion; it does not mean it can live in standing water.
Output is 1600 lm at 3000K, 1700 lm at 4000K and 1800 lm at 5500K across a 120° beam, from a built-in LED — no globe, no socket, nothing user-replaceable. That is roughly double the 10 W into the same wide spread, which is what carries the light up a two-storey wall or into a mature canopy rather than stopping at the first branches. Brightness rises with colour temperature, so 5500K is the brightest setting. Colour is selected on a switch under a sealed cap on the base, factory set to 3000K, and it is far easier to set before the fitting drops into the canister.
This listing sells HV1833T-12V and HV1833T-240V. The 12 V DC model is Class 3, requires no earth, and must run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver — never directly off 240 V. At 20 W it is a substantial load on a shared low-voltage run, and Havit voids the warranty if the supply at the fitting falls outside ±5% of its rated voltage, so size the driver and the cable for it. The 240 V AC model is Class 1 and must be earthed, earth first. Fittings are wired in parallel.
316 stainless steel cover over a black aluminium body, IK10, and trafficable to 1000 kg. Havit asks for regular cleaning of all 316 stainless fittings to prevent tea staining and states that tea staining is not covered by warranty; the HV9971 kit is its recommended remedy. Lights For You has taken every figure above from the HV1833T data sheet and the HV1833T installation instructions. Havit's 3 Years Replacement warranty applies to items ordered after 01/01/2022.
Havit's HV1833T data sheet gives the cutout as Ø194 mm with the canister and Ø188 mm without it, with a Ø210 mm face on the surface. Remember the excavation is deeper than the fitting: Havit also wants a 100 mm space under the canister and 100 mm to 150 mm of crushed rock beneath that for drainage.
Yes, if you want the warranty to stand. Havit's wording is that adequate drainage must be allowed and that the warranty will be voided where it is not. An inground fitting that sits in water is the single most common way one fails early, and IP67 describes surviving temporary immersion — not living submerged.
Only if the driver is 12 V DC and has genuine spare capacity — 20 W is a large share of a typical garden transformer. Havit treats a supply outside ±5% of the rated voltage as a warranty exclusion, and a long run feeding a heavy load is exactly where that limit is breached. If in doubt, give it its own driver.
No. Havit lists Dimmable: No on both the HV1833T data sheet and the installation instructions, and because the LED is built in there is no globe change that would alter it.
It can — 1800 lm out of a lawn at 120° is a lot of light at eye level. HV1833-HC is a honeycomb lens made for this fitting; it sits inside the glass and hides the LED from off-axis views while leaving the upward beam intact. That is the usual fix where an uplight sits beside a path or faces a window.
Havit rates it trafficable to 1000 kg, which covers foot traffic, garden equipment and a domestic car rolling across it. It is not rated for a truck, a loaded trailer or repeated turning loads, and the rating assumes the canister is properly bedded and level with the ground.
Havit rates the lamp expectancy at >30,000hrs. The LED is built in, so that figure describes the life of the fitting rather than of a consumable part — there is no lamp to change at the end of it.
