A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the Klip built to throw, not to spread. At 30 W it is the most powerful fitting in the range, and Havit puts that output through a 60° optic rather than the 120° the 10 W and 20 W use. Same light, half the spread — which is what carries a beam to the top of a mature tree or up the full height of a facade instead of losing it across the lower third.
Light spreads as it travels, so a wide beam that looks generous at two metres is thin and shapeless at eight. Concentrating 2400 lm at 3000K, 2550 lm at 4000K and 2700 lm at 5500K into 60° keeps the intensity up at the far end of the throw. That makes this the fitting for tall gums and palms, two- and three-storey elevations, and columns where the eye follows the light upward. Where the subject is broad and close, a 120° model does a better job with less power. Brightness climbs with colour temperature, so 5500K is the brightest setting and 3000K the dimmest. The source is a built-in LED — no globe, no socket, nothing user-replaceable — and colour is chosen on a switch under a sealed cap on the base, factory set to 3000K.
This listing sells HV1834T-12V and HV1834T-240V. The 12 V DC model is Class 3 and needs no earth, but it must run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver and never directly off 240 V. At 30 W this is a heavy low-voltage load: Havit voids the warranty if the supply reaching the fitting falls outside ±5% of its rated voltage, and volt drop over a long garden run is the usual cause, so size the driver and the cable deliberately and consider giving it a driver of its own. The 240 V AC model is Class 1, must be earthed, and Havit's instruction is to connect the earth first, then live and neutral. Fittings go in parallel.
The cutout without a canister is Ø188 mm, with a Ø210 mm face on the surface. Havit's drainage requirement is a warranty term — adequate drainage must be allowed to prevent fittings from sitting in water for a long period of time, and if no drainage is allowed the warranty will be voided — and it asks for a 100 mm space beneath the canister and 100 mm to 150 mm of crushed rock under that, with a slight fall on the finished ground. The canister must finish level with the ground. IP67 covers temporary immersion, not permanent standing water.
316 stainless steel cover over a black aluminium body, IK10 and trafficable to 1000 kg. Havit requires regular cleaning of all 316 stainless fittings to prevent tea staining and states that tea staining is not covered by warranty. Lights For You publishes these figures from the HV1834T data sheet and the HV1834T installation instructions, under Havit's 3 Years Replacement warranty on items ordered after 01/01/2022.
Havit's HV1834T data sheet gives the cutout without a canister as Ø188 mm, with a Ø210 mm face on the surface. The with-canister figure on that drawing is not stated unambiguously, so we have not published one — cut to the line drawing supplied with your canister. Allow depth for the canister plus a 100 mm void and 100–150 mm of crushed rock beneath it.
Distance. This model puts its 2400–2700 lm through a 60° optic, which keeps the beam intense at the far end of a long throw — tall trees, three-storey elevations, columns. A wide-beam fitting of the same wattage spreads the same light over a much larger area, which is better for broad, close subjects and worse for reach.
Only with care. 30 W is a large load for a shared low-voltage run, and Havit treats a supply outside ±5% of the rated voltage as a warranty exclusion. Volt drop along a long cable is the usual reason that limit is breached, so check the driver has real spare capacity and the cable is sized for the distance — or give this fitting its own driver.
No. Havit lists Dimmable: No on both the HV1834T data sheet and the installation instructions, and the LED is built in, so there is no globe change that would alter it.
Less than a 120° one, but 2700 lm is a great deal of light and a narrow beam is intense. HV1834-HC is a honeycomb lens made for this fitting; it sits inside the glass and cuts the off-axis view of the LED while leaving the upward beam intact. HV1834-F-SH is a screw-fixed security face for exposed positions.
Havit rates it trafficable to 1000 kg — foot traffic, garden equipment and a domestic car rolling across it. It is not a rating for a truck, a loaded trailer or repeated turning loads, and it assumes the canister is bedded properly and set level with the ground.
Havit asks for a regular cleaning routine on all 316 stainless fittings to stop tea staining forming, and states that tea staining is not covered by warranty. Its HV9971 maintenance kit contains a rejuvenating paste and a protective spray intended for exactly this.
