A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
Buyers pick an inground light by wattage. In the Klip range the beam angle decides more. The 10 W throws 120° — a broad, even wash — where the 7 W below it is a tight 38° column. Fitted side by side on the same driver those two produce completely different results, and the wider one is almost always what a wall, a hedge or a spread of foliage actually wants.
A wide beam set close to a surface grazes it; set back, it lifts the whole face evenly instead of drawing a bright stripe up the middle. That makes the 10 W the one for rendered and stone walls, clipped hedging, multi-stemmed shrubs and the underside of a pergola — anywhere the subject is broader than it is tall. Reach for the 7 W instead when the subject is a single trunk or a column. Output is 800 lm at 3000K, 850 lm at 4000K and 900 lm at 5500K from a built-in LED; there is no globe and no socket, so nothing here is user-replaceable. Brightness rises with colour temperature, so 5500K is the brightest and 3000K the dimmest. Colour is chosen on a switch under a sealed cap on the base, factory set to 3000K.
This listing sells HV1832T-12V and HV1832T-240V. The 12 V DC model is Class 3, needs no earth, and must be run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver — never connected directly to 240 V. Havit requires the supply at the fitting to be within ±5% of the rated voltage or the warranty is void. The 240 V AC model is Class 1 and must be earthed, earth connected first. Fittings are wired in parallel. Check the input voltage of every fitting on a shared run before you join them.
The cutout is Ø143 mm with the canister and Ø136 mm without, with a Ø160 mm face on the surface. Havit's instructions make drainage a warranty term rather than a suggestion — adequate drainage must be allowed to prevent fittings from sitting in water for a long period of time, and if no drainage is allowed the warranty will be voided — and ask for a 100 mm space under the canister, 100 mm to 150 mm of crushed rock beneath, and a slight fall on the finished ground. The canister must sit level with the ground. IP67 covers temporary immersion, not permanent standing water.
316 stainless steel cover over a black aluminium body, IK10 and trafficable to 1000 kg. Havit requires regular cleaning of all 316 stainless fittings to prevent tea staining and states that tea staining is not covered by warranty. Every figure here is taken by Lights For You from the HV1832T data sheet and the HV1832T installation instructions; Havit's 3 Years Replacement warranty applies to items ordered after 01/01/2022.
Choose on beam before wattage. The 10 W is 120° and washes a broad surface evenly; the 7 W is 38° and puts a tight column of light up a trunk or a pier. If your subject is wider than it is tall, the 10 W is the right fitting even where the 7 W would be bright enough.
Havit's HV1832T data sheet gives the cutout as Ø143 mm with the canister and Ø136 mm without it; the visible face is Ø160 mm. Cut to the canister you have actually been supplied and set it level with the finished ground — a canister that is not level voids the warranty.
Only if it is a 12 V DC driver with spare capacity for another 10 W, and only if every other fitting on that run is also 12 V. Havit treats a supply outside ±5% of the rated voltage as a warranty exclusion, so a long cable run or an overloaded driver is a real risk rather than a theoretical one.
No. Havit lists Dimmable: No on both the HV1832T data sheet and the installation instructions. The LED is built in, so there is no globe change that would alter it.
Yes — HV1832-HC is a honeycomb lens made for this fitting. It sits inside the glass and restricts the view of the LED from off-axis, which is what stops an uplight in a lawn dazzling anyone walking past it. HV1832-F-SH is a security face fixed with screws if the fitting is somewhere it might be lifted.
Havit rates it trafficable to 1000 kg — foot traffic, garden equipment and a domestic car rolling across. It is not a rating for a truck, a loaded trailer or repeated turning loads, and it assumes the canister is bedded properly and level.
Havit asks for a regular cleaning routine on all 316 stainless fittings to stop tea staining — the brown surface bloom that forms on stainless in wet and salty air — and states that tea staining is not covered by warranty. Its HV9971 kit contains a rejuvenating paste and a protective spray for the job.
