KINDLE FLOOR LAMP

The Kindle FL2 is an 1,800 mm floor lamp with two adjustable shades painted to look like timber, on an iron and aluminium body.

Timber look, without timber’s problems

The shades are painted in wood tones over metal, not veneered or solid. That is a deliberate and sensible choice on a lamp shade: real timber at this thinness warps, splits and marks, and it discolours where the heat sits. Painted metal gives you the warmth of wood against a cool sand-finished body with none of that — and the shades stay true for the life of the lamp.

Both shades adjust

Two heads, each aimed independently. One lamp does two jobs at once: the lower shade down for reading, the upper at the wall for indirect light. Or both into a dark corner. A fixed floor lamp gives you one answer; this gives you a room’s worth.

Small shades on a tall body

ø65 mm shades, 150 mm tall, on an 1,800 mm lamp 220 mm wide. That is deliberately slight — the shades read as two small timber accents rather than a bulk at the top, which is what keeps a 1.8-metre lamp from looking top-heavy.

GU10, which suits a lamp you aim

A GU10 is a reflector lamp with its own beam, so you choose the beam angle — narrow for reading, wide for a wall wash — and you can put a different one in each shade. Two lamps to 6 W each, 12 W total, not supplied.

Kindle is made as a table lamp, this floor lamp and a pendant, all with the same timber-look adjustable shades. A floor lamp beside a chair with the table lamp on the side table reads as one considered pairing.

Class II — double insulated, no earth required, lead and plug fitted, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
