Jura 2 Ring CTC Ceiling Light

The Jura CTC2 is a 600 mm two-ring crystal close-to-ceiling light in chrome or gold — integrated 100 W giving 10,000 lm, with 3300 K / 4200 K / 6500 K and dimming, in a 120 mm profile.

Chandelier glamour without the drop

This is what the Jura is for, and its own page put it well: genuine crystal presence in 120 millimetres.

A crystal fitting of this scale is normally a suspended chandelier needing two metres or more of clear air. The Jura puts the same material and the same sparkle into a flat, close-mounted twin-ring assembly, so it works under a standard 2.4-metre ceiling — over a dining table, in an entry, or in a master bedroom, where a hanging chandelier would be in the way or simply impossible.

Two rings or three — and the step between them is large

The three-ring is two-thirds wider again and nearly twice the output. For most rooms — a dining room, an entry, a bedroom — the two-ring is the realistic choice: 600 mm is a substantial but domestic diameter, where a metre-wide crystal ring is a grand-space fitting.

Both run at 100 lm/W, so the light quality is identical — the choice is purely scale.

10,000 lumens — and the dimming is not optional

For scale: the 700 mm Astana in this catalogue gives 3,850 lm. The Jura CTC2 gives two and a half times that, in a smaller diameter.

It is designed to fill a formal dining room or a large entry on its own, and at that output it is really intended to run well below maximum most of the time. 10,000 lumens at full is a great deal of light to eat under.

Three colour temperatures — and a gap in our own record

3300 K warm, 4200 K neutral, 6500 K daylight.

Our product record carried only two of the three — 4200 and 6500, with the warm 3300 K missing. The description and the specification table both had all three, and three is correct.

In a dining room or a master bedroom, use 3300 K. Crystal refracts, and warm light through crystal gives the amber-and-white sparkle the material is chosen for. 6500 K daylight through crystal reads cold and hard — impressive across an entry, wrong in a room you sit in.

Two rings, and what crystal does with light

Two crystal-set rings in polished stainless steel. Crystal refracts rather than diffuses: instead of an even glow you get points of light thrown across the ceiling and walls, and the effect changes as you move.

It looks best with something below to catch the reflections — a polished dining table, a stone floor, a glazed surface. Over a matt timber table in a dim room, much of what you paid for is lost.
