A surface mounted downlight whose head rotates, in black or white. It fixes to the face of a ceiling without a cutout, and then the head aims — which makes it two useful things at once: a fitting for ceilings that cannot be cut, and a fitting that can be pointed at something rather than simply lighting straight down.
That combination is what it is for. On a concrete slab, a timber-lined ceiling, or a rented space where cutting is not allowed, a recessed adjustable downlight is not an option at all. This is.
The fitting draws 7W and is tri-colour, with the colour temperature selected on the fitting at installation rather than fixed at manufacture: 3000K, 4000K or 5500K. Colour rendering is 80 CRI or better.
The beam is 60°, which is narrow enough to be directional. That matters on a rotatable fitting — a wide beam aimed at a picture lights the picture and everything around it, where a 60° beam puts most of its output where the head is pointed.
Rotate and aim the head after the fitting is mounted and powered, not before. Where several are installed along a wall or over a bench, aim them together and stand back at the viewing distance rather than under them — the angle that looks right from directly beneath is rarely the one that looks right from across the room.
If the fittings are lighting artwork or a display, aim them from the position people will actually stand. It is the cheapest possible improvement to the result and the one most often skipped.
The Nella runs on 240V AC mains and requires no driver. It is rated IP54, so the face resists dust and splashing water. Havit lists it as dimmable; confirm the dimmer type with your electrician.
No ceiling cutout is required, but the mounting base still needs a fixing point and a cable entry, so the ceiling has to be prepared. The LED is built in — no globe to buy and none to replace. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.
