HV5528T-BB is the Gleam deep recessed downlight with a black polycarbonate face and a black insert — the fully-blacked-out version of the fitting, on a Ø90 mm cut-out. It is a complete 9 W luminaire supplied with its own driver, flex and plug, not a trim ring, and the insert colour is the only thing separating it from the chrome and gold part numbers in the same range.
A black bezel inside a black face is the least visible thing a recessed downlight can be on a dark or timber-lined ceiling, and on a white ceiling it becomes a deliberate punctuation mark instead. Combined with the deep-set recess it also does the most to hide the LED itself: the aperture reads as a dark disc until the light is on, which is why this combination turns up in home theatres, bedrooms and hospitality fit-outs where a bright ring of trim would be a distraction.
A switch on the back of the fitting selects 3000K, 4000K or 5500K before installation, and Havit measures 680 lm, 795 lm and 745 lm in that order. The middle setting is the brightest — 5500K delivers about 6% less light than 4000K, not more. Colour rendering is CRI >80, the beam is 90° for even ceiling coverage, and the face is fixed with no tilt.
The Gleam reaches IC-4 only when the HV5528-IC4CAP is fitted. That rating then covers the fitting only, and the driver may not be installed under insulation; separately, the fixture must not be used with loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool. The driver must be mounted above any insulation covering the fitting so it can ventilate. The cap itself adds about 10 mm to the depth needed above the ceiling.
It runs on 240 V AC from a separate driver and lands on a plug base fixed in the ceiling. It is Protection Class 2, so no earth is required at the fitting, IK08, rated >30,000 hrs and Triac dimmable. IP54 covers the front of the fitting only: the visible face resists dust and splashing, the plenum side does not, so a bathroom or laundry ceiling is fine and an exposed one is not. Havit's warranty line for this part number reads "3 Years replacement warranty (items ordered after 01/01/22)". Havit's current and earlier sheets give different body dimensions for this housing, so Lights For You does not publish an overall size — the cut-out is agreed everywhere and the depth should be confirmed on site. Lights For You also lists the same engine on a Ø76 mm cut-out as HV5529T.
Ø90 mm, stated identically on the model data sheet, the installation sheet and Havit’s own page for this part number. The same 9 W engine on a Ø76 mm cut-out is a different model, HV5529T.
A complete light. HV5528T-BB is a whole 9 W downlight with driver, flex and plug; Havit lists it in the same Model No. row as the plain black and white Gleam models.
4000K, at 795 lm. 3000K gives 680 lm and 5500K gives 745 lm, so the coolest setting is not the brightest on this fitting.
Only with the HV5528-IC4CAP fitted, and only the fitting itself. Havit states the driver may not be installed under insulation and must sit above it to ventilate, and that loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool must not be used with this fixture.
No — Protection Class 2. It arrives with a flex and plug that connects to a plug base installed in the ceiling.
Yes, Havit lists it as Triac dimmable and supplies the HV9625 Triac dimmer to suit its Triac dimmable drivers. A DALI-dimming version of the same fitting is published through Havit’s Commercial range.
Havit’s documents disagree: the dated sheet this listing carries and the current installation sheet give one body size, an earlier model sheet for the same housing gives another, and the website publishes none. The page therefore states only the cut-out, which every source agrees on, plus the roughly 10 mm the insulation cap adds.
