HV5522T-BLK | HV5522T-BLK-24V - Polly Polycarbonate Black Fixed LED Downlight

The Polly is Havit's plain, cheap, well-behaved 90 mm downlight — an all-polycarbonate body with no visible metal, in black. It is the one to specify when the ceiling needs a lot of fittings and none of them should be interesting. The body is Ø110 mm across and only 48 mm deep, which is shallow enough to clear most joists, and it drops into a Ø90 mm cut-out.

Two supplies on one page — check which one you are buying

This listing carries both versions of the same fitting. HV5522T-BLK runs on 240 V and is supplied with a flex and plug, so it lands on a plug base in the ceiling and needs no earth — Havit rates it Protection Class 2. HV5522T-BLK-24V runs on 24 V DC from a constant-voltage LED driver and is Protection Class 3. They are the same optic and the same output; they are not interchangeable, and a fitting bought for the wrong circuit cannot be adapted.

Output, and why 5500K is not the brightest

A switch selects 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, and Havit measures 635 lm, 750 lm and 715 lm respectively. The peak sits in the middle: going from 4000K to the coolest setting loses about 5% of the light rather than gaining any. Choose the colour on how the room should read, not on output. The beam is a broad 120°, so this is a wash fitting for even ceiling coverage rather than an accent light, and colour rendering is CRI >80 — ordinary and honest for a general-purpose downlight. The face does not tilt.

Insulation, and the part installers get wrong

The Polly is IC-4 rated, so the fitting itself may be covered by insulation. Its driver may not be — Havit's installation sheet is explicit that the driver has to sit above any insulation covering the fitting so it can ventilate, and that the fixture must not be installed with loose-fill insulation such as macerated paper or wool. Those two lines are where most of the failures in this class of fitting come from, and they apply to both versions on this page.

Rating, dimming and warranty

The IP54 rating covers the front of the fitting only — the face is sealed against dust and splashing, the plenum side is not — so it suits a bathroom or laundry ceiling but not an exposed one. It is IK08 for impact, with a plastic diffuser and >30,000 hrs of rated life. Havit lists it as Triac dimmable, which on the extra-low-voltage version means a dimmable driver rather than a dimmer at the fitting. Warranty is 3 years replacement.
