A recessed WiFi downlight taking a Ø70mm cutout, with a Ø88mm face, in black or white. It draws 12W and tunes continuously between 2700K and 6500K rather than offering the three fixed settings of a tri-colour fitting.
The 70mm cutout is the practical detail. It is the most common downlight aperture in Australian housing, which means this fitting drops into an existing ceiling grid on a renovation without new holes, patching or a repaint — the difference between changing the lights and changing the ceiling.
Colour temperature and dimming are both handled through the TUYA app over WiFi. There is no wall dimmer and no dimming module on the circuit.
⚠ Decide whether that suits the household before specifying it. App control means the lights depend on a network, an app and a phone that someone has set up. In a home where that is normal it is excellent — a whole ceiling can be retuned from a chair, and the colour can follow the time of day. In a rental, a holiday house, or anywhere guests need to operate the lights, it is the wrong choice.
The Prime is rated above 90 CRI, well beyond what a typical downlight offers. On skin, timber, paint and food that difference is visible, which is the argument for it in a kitchen, bathroom or living area.
Rated lamp expectancy is >50,000 hrs — longer than most fittings in the range, which matters on a recessed fitting that is awkward to get back to.
It runs on 240V and is a Class 2 fitting, so no earth is required at the fitting. The beam is 60°, which is more directional than a general-purpose downlight and gives better definition on a bench or a floor.
The fitting is rated IP54 at the front only: the visible face resists dust and splashing water, while the body above the ceiling is not sealed. It is also rated IK06 for impact. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.
