Trener Aluminium Black Wall Light

The Trener is a black aluminium fitting with a clear plastic diffuser and an E27 socket, designed for surface mounting at ground level — a bollard-style light for the base of a wall, a garden bed edge or a path margin rather than a fitting mounted at head height. Because it takes a standard E27 globe, the light source is a commodity you can replace yourself, and a warm 2700 K LED globe of around 9 W and 700 lm gives the soft glow the diffuser is designed for. It is rated IP44, which sets the boundary on where it can go.

The choice to make

There is one part number, HV3673W-BLK, so the decision is about position and globe. IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction — adequate for a garden bed or a path edge that gets rain and irrigation, but not for a position that is hosed down, flooded or submerged. Do not install it where water pools. The globe you fit determines the colour and character of the light, and it should be a dimmable type if you intend to dim.

Specifying it

The Trener is 240 V and wires straight to mains — there is no driver or transformer. It is a Class 1 fitting at 240 V and requires an earth, which matters at ground level where the fitting is accessible. The globe is an E27 large screw base and it is replaceable; a B22 bayonet, E14 or GU10 globe will not fit. The maximum the socket accepts is 9 W — a low ceiling because the clear plastic diffuser encloses the lamp, so heat has nowhere to go. It is Triac dimmable when fitted with a dimmable globe and paired with a Triac-compatible dimmer. Impact rating is IK07 and rated life under 30,000 hours.
