A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The HV3649T is the larger Essil — the same slim rectangular up-and-down wall light in poly powder coated aluminium, stepped up to 2 × 6 W and roughly twice the output of the compact HV3646T. Two built-in LED emitters wash a wide 120° spread up the wall and down it. Specify it where the wall is tall, the spacing is generous, or an entry needs real presence.
Four variants: black or white, each in 240 V AC or 12 V DC. The 240 V version wires straight to mains and is Class 1, so an earth is required. The 12 V version needs an external 12 V DC LED driver, which is not supplied, and Havit warns in capitals that the fitting must not be connected directly to 240 V; it is Class 3, so no earth is needed. Wire several on one run in parallel.
This is the difference that catches people out. The 240 V variants are Triac dimmable; the 12 V variants are not dimmable. Havit states the split three separate ways — the data sheet, the installation sheet’s per-model table and its own product copy — and it cannot be reversed once the wall is closed up. If the light has to dim, choose the 240 V variant.
Havit publishes the output as 2 × 350 lm at 3000K, 2 × 365 lm at 4000K and 2 × 380 lm at 5500K — per direction, meaning what one emitter delivers, produced twice by the fitting. Power reads the same way: 2 × 6 W, or 12 W total. We publish the per-emitter figure with the count, because a summed number hides how much light reaches the wall in each direction.
Output rises with colour temperature here: 5500K is the brightest at 380 lm per direction, 4000K sits at 365 lm and 3000K is the dimmest at 350 lm. Thirty lumens separate the ends. We state it per product because the assumption is not safe in general: several fittings in the same range are brightest in the middle.
It is tri-colour — 3000K, 4000K or 5500K — on a slide switch inside the base, shipped preset to 3000K. Changing it means lifting the body off its base plate. The beam is a fixed 120° and is not adjustable.
Run the cable through the cable gland, seal every hole including the cable entry and around the screws, tighten the allen screws, and apply silicone around the edge of the fitting. Every o-ring and seal must be correctly seated to maintain the warranty, and modifying the fitting voids it. It is IP54 behind a glass diffuser with an IK08 impact rating.
The Essil is aluminium, and Havit states that aluminium and 304SS fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment — for a beachside address, ask us for a marine-grade option instead. It mounts on a base plate taking four Ø5 mm fixings around a Ø17 mm cable entry. Havit’s drawing prints the body’s overall figures without labelling which is which, so we publish no overall dimensions and no wall projection and point you to the dimensioned drawing instead. At Lights For You we stock both Essil sizes in black and white on both supplies, and will size a driver with you.
Only on the 240 V variants, which are Triac dimmable. The 12 V DC variants are not dimmable. Havit records the split on the data sheet, in the installation sheet’s per-model table and in its own product description, so choose the supply with the dimming requirement in mind — it cannot be changed afterwards.
Three things. The 240 V variant wires straight to mains, is Class 1 so it needs an earth, and is Triac dimmable. The 12 V variant requires an external 12 V DC LED driver, is Class 3 so it needs no earth, and is not dimmable. Havit warns that the 12 V fitting must never be connected directly to 240 V. Light output, colour and size are identical.
No. The 12 V DC variants need a separate 12 V DC LED driver, which Havit describes as an external power supply and does not supply with the fitting; it refers you to its driver range rather than naming a single part number. The 240 V variants need no driver at all. Tell us how many fittings are on the run and we will size one.
Per direction. Havit states them as 2 × 350 lm, so each of the two emitters delivers the stated figure and the fitting delivers it twice. We do not publish a bare summed total, because it tells you nothing about how much light goes up the wall and how much goes down it.
5500K, at 380 lm per direction, with 4000K at 365 lm and 3000K the dimmest at 350 lm. Output rises with colour temperature on this fitting. That is not a general rule — several fittings in the same outdoor range peak at 4000K — which is why we state it per product rather than leaving you to assume.
A slide switch inside the base of the fitting. Loosen the allen screws on the side, lift the body off its base plate, select 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, then reseat it with the seals correctly in place and retighten. It arrives preset to 3000K.
Output and size. This one runs 2 × 6 W and reaches 380 lm per direction; the HV3646T runs 2 × 3 W and reaches 195 lm. This one is also Triac dimmable on 240 V, where the smaller model is not dimmable on either supply. IP54, IK08, the fixed 120° beam and the tri-colour switch are shared.
Not within 5 km of salt water. Havit’s installation instructions state that aluminium and 304SS fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment, and this fitting is aluminium. Contact us for a marine-grade alternative if the site is near the coast.
