A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Essil is Havit’s slim rectangular up-and-down wall light in poly powder coated aluminium, and the HV3646T is the compact 2 × 3 W version. Two built-in LED emitters throw a wide 120° wash up the wall and down it, so the wall does the work and the fitting stays quiet. It is the shape that ends up beside front doors and up garage piers.
Four variants are sold here: black or white, each in 240 V AC or 12 V DC. They are not interchangeable. The 240 V version wires straight to mains and is Class 1, so an earth is required — Havit says to connect the earth first, then live and neutral. The 12 V version runs from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver, which is not supplied, and Havit is emphatic that the fitting must not be connected directly to 240 V. It is Class 3, so no earth is needed. Where several sit on one run, wire them in parallel.
Havit publishes the output as 2 × 180 lm at 3000K, 2 × 187 lm at 4000K and 2 × 195 lm at 5500K — per direction, meaning what one emitter delivers, produced twice. Power reads the same way: 2 × 3 W, or 6 W total. We give the per-emitter figure with the count, because a summed number says nothing about how much light reaches the wall either way.
Output rises with colour temperature on this fitting: 5500K is the brightest at 195 lm per direction, 4000K sits at 187 lm and 3000K is the dimmest at 180 lm. Fifteen lumens separate the ends, so it is no reason to pick a colour you do not want. We say it explicitly because it is not a rule you can carry between fittings: much of Havit’s outdoor range is brightest in the middle.
It is tri-colour — 3000K, 4000K or 5500K — on a slide switch inside the base, shipped preset to 3000K. Changing it means loosening the allen screws and lifting the body off its base plate — a decision made on the ladder. The beam is a fixed 120° and is not adjustable, and the fitting is not dimmable on either supply.
Havit’s instructions are specific: seal all holes including the cable entry and around the screws, tighten the allen screws so water cannot penetrate, and apply silicone around the edge of the fitting. All o-rings and seals must be correctly in place to maintain the warranty, and modifying the fitting voids it. It is IP54 behind a glass diffuser with an IK08 impact rating — ratings that assume the install was sealed properly.
The Essil is aluminium, and Havit states that aluminium and 304SS fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment — for a coastal address, ask us for a marine-grade alternative instead. It mounts on a base plate taking two Ø5 mm fixings around a Ø13 mm cable entry. Havit’s drawing prints the body’s three overall figures without labelling which is which, so we publish no overall dimensions and no wall projection; the dimensioned drawing on this page is the reliable reference. Lights For You keeps the Essil in both finishes and both supplies, and will confirm the right variant for your circuit.
The supply, and it changes how the fitting is wired. The 240 V variant connects straight to mains and is Class 1, so it needs an earth. The 12 V variant must be run from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver, is Class 3 so it needs no earth, and Havit warns that it must never be connected directly to 240 V. Light output, colour and size are identical.
No. The 12 V DC variants need a separate 12 V DC LED driver, which is not supplied with the fitting — Havit refers you to its driver range rather than naming one part number for it. The 240 V variants need no driver or transformer at all. Ask us and we will size a driver for the number of fittings on the run.
Per direction. Havit prints them as 2 × 180 lm, meaning each of the two emitters delivers the stated figure and the fitting produces that twice. We never publish a bare summed total, because it hides how much light actually reaches the wall going up and going down.
5500K, at 195 lm per direction, with 4000K at 187 lm and 3000K the dimmest at 180 lm. Output rises with colour temperature on this particular fitting — which is worth stating, because it is not true of every fitting in the range and the spread is only fifteen lumens either way.
There is a slide switch inside the base of the fitting. Loosen the allen screws on the side, lift the body off its base plate, select 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, then reseat it with all seals correctly in place and retighten. It arrives preset to 3000K.
No. Havit’s data sheet and installation instructions both record this model as not dimmable, on either the 240 V or the 12 V supply. If you need a dimmable up-and-down light of this shape, ask us — the larger Essil is Triac dimmable on its 240 V variant.
Not within 5 km of salt water. Havit’s installation instructions state that aluminium and 304SS fittings must not be installed within 5 km of any salt water environment, and this fitting is aluminium. Talk to us about a marine-grade option if the address is coastal.
We do not publish that figure. Havit’s drawing gives the body’s three overall measurements without saying which is height, which is width and which is projection, and publishing a guessed wall projection is exactly how a wall light ends up being returned. The dimensioned drawing sits in the data sheet on this page.
