Veldi Up & Down LED Wall Light

The Veldi looks like an ordinary square up-and-down wall light and is not one: the body is 316 marine-grade stainless steel in every finish, including the black and the white, which are powder coated over the same stainless shell. That is the reason to choose it. Aluminium fittings carry a coastal exclusion; 316 stainless is the grade specified for exactly those positions. Two tri-colour GU10 globes are supplied, so the colour temperature stays a decision you can revisit.

Coastal, but not maintenance-free

316 stainless earns its place near the sea, and it still needs looking after. Havit requires regular cleaning of all 316 and 304 stainless fittings to stop tea staining — the fine brown speckling that appears on stainless in salt-laden air — and states plainly that the warranty does not cover tea staining. A wipe-down on the same schedule as the windows is usually enough; Havit sells a stainless maintenance kit for fittings that have been left too long. This is a condition of ownership rather than a defect, and it is worth knowing before the first summer rather than after it.

Specifying it

Three part numbers, one fitting: black, white and natural 316 stainless, all at the same output. It runs on 240 V AC with no driver, and as a Class 1 fitting the earth goes on first. The two supplied 5 W GU10 globes make 10 W in total — 540 lm at 3000K, 570 lm at 4000K and 600 lm at 5500K, which Havit publishes per head as 270, 285 and 300 lm. Colour temperature is switched on the globe itself: take the cover off, slide the switch on the side of each globe, refit. The GU10 socket accepts up to 35 W per globe and takes no other base. IP54 and IK08, with clear glass.

Installing it so the warranty survives

IP54 means splashing, not weather, so the Veldi still wants a sheltered wall even in stainless — the material answers corrosion, not water ingress. Seal every hole in the base plate including the cable entry, run silicone around the edge of the fitting, and make sure all o-rings and seals are seated: Havit makes that a warranty condition. Then put the fitting on a cleaning routine.
