The Taper is a wedge — a shallow angled body that sits close to the wall and throws its light down the surface rather than out into the garden. This is the 12 V MR16 version, and the socket is the reason to choose it: the globe is replaceable, so the fitting outlives the lamp and you can change colour temperature later by changing the globe rather than the fitting.

Low voltage, and a driver is required

Every order code here runs on 12 V DC and needs a 12 V DC LED driver rated for the whole run. It must never be connected directly to 240 V. As a low-voltage circuit no earth is needed at the fitting, which is why this family suits a run of several wedges along a path or boundary wall fed from one driver.

Specifying it

The globe is an MR16 and it is replaceable. Supplied output across the tri-colour range is 270 lm at 3000 K, 285 lm at 4000 K and 300 lm at 5500 K from a 5 W lamp. Do not exceed 20 W in the 12 V MR16 socket — that is a thermal limit on the fitting, not a suggestion. Frosted tempered glass, IP44, CRI above 80, and not dimmable with the globe supplied. Four finishes: black, white, 316 stainless steel and copper.

Supplied and supported by Lights For You. Copper and 316 stainless carry a premium over the powder coated finishes and are the ones to specify near salt water; black and white suit a sheltered wall.

Questions
Does it need a driver?

Yes. Every order code is 12 V DC and requires a 12 V DC LED driver sized for the total load. Never wire it directly to 240 V.

Is the globe replaceable?

Yes. It takes an MR16 globe, so the lamp can be changed without replacing the fitting.

What is the maximum globe wattage?

20 W in the 12 V MR16 socket. This is a thermal limit on the fitting.

How bright is it?

270 lm at 3000 K, 285 lm at 4000 K and 300 lm at 5500 K from the supplied 5 W lamp.

Can it be dimmed?

Not with the globe supplied. Fitting a dimmable MR16 requires a dimmable driver as well.

Which finish for a coastal wall?

316 stainless steel. It is the marine grade and resists the chloride pitting that lifts paint on lesser finishes.

What is the warranty?

Three years, as a replacement warranty.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.

  • Restocking fee: 20% will apply unless otherwise stated, or unless another order of equal or greater value is placed in lieu of this re-stocking fee.
