A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The largest Preston coping light at 7.5W in a black finish. A coping light sets into the top course of a wall — the coping — and washes light down the face below it, so the wall is lit without any visible fitting on it.
Black is the finish that disappears into a dark capping, bluestone or charcoal render, so by day the wall edge reads as uninterrupted and at night only the light on the face below is seen.
That is a specific job and it is worth being clear about. This is not a path light or a step light. It is the fitting used along a pool surround, a retaining wall, a planter edge or a boundary capping, where the effect wanted is a lit wall face and a dark, uninterrupted top edge.
The fitting draws 7.5W and is tri-colour, with 3000K, 4000K or 5500K selected at installation rather than fixed at manufacture, rated at 420lm, 440lm and 430lm respectively. Colour rendering is above 80 CRI.
The beam is 100°, a wide spread suited to washing a wall face from close range. At 420lm to 440lm this is the version for a tall wall face or wider spacing between fittings — on a low capping it will be brighter than the effect usually calls for.
It is rated IP65 for dust and jetted water and IK10 for impact — the highest impact classification in Havit's range. Both matter here more than on most fittings: a coping light sits on the top of a wall where people sit, lean, put drinks down and drag furniture past, and where a hose or pool water reaches it regularly.
It needs very little depth in the coping itself, which is what makes it retrofittable into a capping that is already laid.
The Preston runs on 12V DC, so a 12V driver is required on the circuit and is not part of this listing. Low voltage is the appropriate choice for a fitting set into a wet, hand-height edge.
Havit lists the fitting as dimmable. Set out the whole run before cutting anything — a recessed fitting cannot be moved afterwards, and on a coping the spacing is read along a straight line where any irregularity shows. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.
It sets into the top course of a wall and washes light down the face below, so the wall is lit with no fitting visible on it.
Shallow enough to retrofit into capping that is already laid. Ask us for the exact dimensions of this finish before you cut.
Yes. It runs on 12V DC and the driver is not supplied.
IP65 for dust and jetted water, and IK10 for impact — the highest impact rating in the range.
Havit lists it as dimmable. Confirm the arrangement with your electrician, since the driver forms part of the dimming path on a 12V circuit.
