Curva Antique Brass LED

This is the largest Curva — 7.5 W — in antique brass. At 600 lm to 650 lm it puts out roughly two and a half times the entry model, which moves it out of edge-marking territory and into genuinely lighting the ground in front of it. That is the right choice on a wide flight, a landing, or a path junction people approach at speed, and the wrong one on a narrow domestic riser where the surplus becomes glare at ankle height.

Antique brass, and what it does over time

The body is solid brass throughout, with the antique finish applied to it. That matters in two ways. It arrives already darkened rather than bright, so a flight installed today looks settled immediately instead of changing over the first year. And because the metal underneath is brass rather than a coated steel, a knock that marks the finish exposes more brass — it will not rust, which is the failure a powder-coated steel fitting eventually shows on a step that gets kicked.

Wiring it

It runs on 12 V DC constant voltage and needs a constant-voltage driver — a constant-current unit is a different device and will not run it. Wiring is parallel and the fitting is Protection Class 3, no earth required. At 7.5 W the arithmetic matters more than on the smaller models: six fittings draw 45 W, so size the driver with real headroom, feed a long run from near its middle rather than one end, and give the driver a position suited to its own IP rating.

Dimming

The Curva is Triac dimmable. Because it runs at 12 V DC the dimming happens upstream at the driver, so that driver must itself be a Triac-dimmable 12 V DC constant-voltage unit, paired with a compatible leading-edge wall dimmer. On the 7.5 W model this is worth having rather than a nicety — it is bright enough that being able to bring it down on a quiet evening is the difference between welcoming and floodlit.

Specifying it

The 7.5 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket. Tri-colour switching across 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K gives 600 lm, 650 lm and 625 lm; the middle setting is the brightest, so treat the three as colours rather than a ladder. IP65 and IK06, frosted glass diffuser, CRI above 80.

Lights For You stocks all three Curva outputs in this finish. If a flight mixes wide and narrow steps, it is usually better to run one output throughout and place them further apart on the narrow section.
