Curva in solid brass is the top of this family and the one specified when the fitting has to survive rather than just look right — the body is brass throughout, not a brass-coloured coating, so corrosion attacks the surface and stops there. It is also the brightest Curva, at 5 W against 3 W for the painted versions, putting out in the region of 400–450 lumens depending on the colour temperature selected.

The choice to make: solid brass earns its price near salt

Within a few hundred metres of surf, a powder-coated aluminium step light is a consumable — the coat chalks, then lifts, then the metal goes. Solid brass has no coating to fail; it darkens and patinates instead, and keeps working. Away from the coast and under cover, the black or white Curva does the same job for less. This is the decision, and it is about location, not taste.

  • Pool and spa surrounds where chlorinated and salt-treated water splashes the wall.
  • Heritage and sandstone properties whose external hardware is already brass or bronze.
  • High-end entries and terrace flights where the extra 5 W output is wanted on a wide tread.
Specifying it

Rated IP65 for direct rain and hose-down cleaning, with frosted glass over the LED so the source is not visible from a standing eye line. It is Triac dimmable — pair it with a trailing-edge LED dimmer and check the total connected load against the dimmer's minimum. Tri-colour selectable at install across 3000K, 4000K and 5500K; hold one temperature across the whole flight.

It is 12 V DC and requires a 12 V DC LED driver, and must never be connected directly to 240 V. Each fitting has to sit within 25 m of its driver for the warranty to apply. The LED is built in — no globe is needed or possible. Installation by a licensed electrician.

Backed by a 3-year replacement warranty.

Supplied and supported by Lights For You; solid brass Curva is 5 W where the painted versions are 3 W, so if you are adding one to an existing Curva run tell us and we will check the driver still has capacity.

Questions
Is this actually solid brass, or a brass finish?

Solid brass. The corrosion resistance comes from the metal itself rather than from a coating, which is why it holds up where painted aluminium fails near the coast.

Is it brighter than the black and white Curva?

Yes. This one is 5 W and puts out in the 400–450 lm range; the painted versions are 3 W at around 240–250 lm. Worth knowing if you are mixing them on one flight.

Will the brass stay bright and yellow?

No. Untreated brass darkens and develops a patina outdoors, unevenly where weather and hands reach it. That is normal and not a fault.

Does it need a driver?

Yes — a 12 V DC LED driver sized for the whole circuit. Connecting it directly to 240 V destroys it and is not covered by the warranty.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, it is Triac dimmable on a trailing-edge LED dimmer. Confirm the dimmer's minimum load is met by the number of fittings on the circuit.

How far from the driver can it be?

25 m at most. At 5 W the voltage drop over a long low-voltage run is more noticeable, and exceeding the limit voids the warranty.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
