The Curva is the only dimmable fitting in this range, and that single fact is the reason to choose it. Every other step light here is fixed output — you decide the brightness when you choose the model and live with it. The Curva can be brought down, which matters on a terrace or an entry stair that is a guide light on a quiet evening and a working light when people are moving through.

How you dim a 12V fitting

This is where the detail matters. The datasheet lists it as Triac dimmable, but the fitting itself runs on 12 V DC. The dimming therefore happens on the primary side of the driver, not at the fitting — which means the driver has to be a Triac-dimmable 12 V DC driver, and the wall dimmer has to be a Triac (leading-edge) type compatible with it. Pair a dimmable fitting with a non-dimmable driver and you get no dimming at best and flicker or buzz at worst, and the fitting will be blamed for the driver's limitation. Specify the two together.

Wiring it

The single order code is 12 V DC and requires that driver, sized above the total load rather than level with it. The datasheet lists Protection Class 3 — no earth required at the fitting, and warns in capitals against connecting it directly to 240 V. On a long run, feed from near the middle rather than one end so the last fitting does not dim from voltage drop — particularly worth doing here, because on a dimmable circuit a voltage-drop dip and a dimming step look the same and you will chase the wrong cause.

  • Curved or rendered walls — the curved face and frosted diffuser suit a soft surface.
  • Poolside and coastal steps: IP65 covers direct rain and hose wash-down.
Specifying it

The 5 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket. Tri-colour switching across 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K gives 400 lm, 450 lm and 425 lm, set once at installation. That is a bright step light, which is part of why dimmability is useful on it. Brass body with a matt black finish and a frosted diffuser, IP65, surface mounted.

Supplied by Lights For You. There is an identical Curva in white if the wall suits it better — same electrical specification, same dimming requirement.

Questions
Is it really dimmable?

Yes — the datasheet lists it as Triac dimmable, which makes it the only dimmable fitting in this range.

What do I need for the dimming to work?

A Triac-dimmable 12 V DC driver and a compatible Triac (leading-edge) wall dimmer. The dimming happens on the primary side of the driver, not at the fitting, so a non-dimmable driver gives no dimming or flicker.

Does it need a driver at all?

Yes. It is 12 V DC. The datasheet warns against connecting the fitting directly to 240 V.

How bright is it?

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Returns

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

We reserve the right to refuse a return in cases where we cannot be reasonably satisfied that you purchased the product from us or where we are not responsible for the damage in accordance with our Faults & damages policy.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
