HV2961T-BLK-12V | HV2961T-BLK-240V - Nava Black LED Step Light with Eyelid

The HV2961T is the Nava with an eyelid — a hood over the upper half of the aperture that shields the LED from a direct view and pushes the output downward, onto the step or the path rather than into the eyes of whoever is climbing it. In poly powder coated black the hood almost disappears against the body, and what you notice is the pool of light beneath it instead of the fitting itself.

What the eyelid is actually for

A surface-mounted step light projects from the wall at roughly shin to knee height, which puts a bare aperture close to eye level for anyone on a lower step looking up. The eyelid removes that: it blocks the upward component and throws a defined wash down the wall face. On a flight of stairs, a sloping path, or anywhere the run is walked towards and upward, it is the version to specify. Where the fitting is only ever seen from above or side-on, the plain HV2960T does the same job for the same money.

No cut-out, and no internal junction

Like every Nava this is surface mounted onto a base plate, so there is nothing to cut into the structure and it can be retrofitted to finished walls. The install detail that matters is the cable: the data sheet states the fitting has an external cable and the connection can only be made externally. There is no terminal chamber inside it, so the 150 mm tail has to reach a junction you provide and that junction has to be watertight — soldered and heat-shrunk, or a gel-filled IP67 connector such as Havit's HV9911, HV9912 or HV9913. An unsealed joint voids the warranty.

The specification

IP65 and IK06, a polycarbonate diffuser, a 120° beam before the eyelid shapes it, and CRI above 80. The 5 W LED is built in — no globe, no socket — giving 360 lm at 3000 K, 380 lm at 4000 K and 400 lm at 5500 K. Colour temperature is chosen at installation from a switch on the PCB behind the diffuser, preset to 3000 K. It does not dim on either supply voltage.

Supply and siting

240 V is Protection Class 1, earth required. 12 V DC is Class 3, no earth, and needs a 12 V DC constant-voltage driver no more than 25 m away with supply within ±5% of rated voltage. Wiring is parallel. Two placement limits come from Havit's own instructions: aluminium fittings belong 5 km or more from salt water, and corrosion caused by the mounting surface is not covered — sandstone and bush rock are named, because both hold damp and salts against the base plate.
