Flame mini deck lights in 316 stainless steel

The Flame is a miniature recessed deck light — a Ø28mm cutout, half a watt, and 25lm from each fitting. Figures that small are the point rather than a limitation. These are not lights you see by; they are lights you see. Set into a deck, a stair tread, a paving joint or the top of a retaining wall, a run of them marks a line and gives a surface depth after dark without lighting the space around it.

The body is 316 stainless steel and the fitting is rated IP67, so it withstands temporary immersion — which for a deck light is not a theoretical rating. Water sits on decks, ponds against thresholds and runs down stair treads, and a fitting set flush in that surface spends part of its life underwater.

How this listing is sold

Two configurations are on this page and they are priced very differently, so it is worth reading the option carefully. HV2826CCT is the six-light kit, which is how most people buy them, since these fittings only make sense as a run. HV28261CCT is a single fitting, for extending an existing installation or replacing one.

Two extension cables are also sold here: HV2826-EXT-CCT-2M at 2 metres and HV2826-EXT-CCT-4M at 4 metres. On a run of small fittings the cable is usually what decides the layout, so measure the distances between positions before ordering rather than after.

Colour temperature and control

The Flame is a CCT fitting adjustable from a warm 2700K to a cool 6500K, and it is controlled by remote or app rather than by a wall switch. That is a genuine convenience on a deck — nobody wants to lift a board to adjust a light — but it is also a decision to make deliberately, because it means the installation depends on a controller and a paired device.

The fitting is dimmable through the same remote or app. Colour rendering is above 80 CRI, the beam is 120°, and rated lamp expectancy is >30,000 hrs.

Power, cutout and installation

The Flame runs on 12V DC and is a Class 3 low-voltage fitting, so no earth is required at the fitting. A 12V driver is needed on the circuit and is not included. Because each fitting draws only half a watt, a run of them is undemanding — but the driver still has to be sized for the number of fittings plus any future additions.

The cutout is Ø28mm. Set out the whole run and test-drill an offcut before cutting the finished surface, because a recessed fitting cannot be moved afterwards. Havit also states that aluminium and 304 stainless fittings must not be installed within 5km of any salt water environment, and that 316 stainless fittings need regular cleaning to prevent tea staining — worth planning for on a coastal deck. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.
