A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Split RGBW is the colour-change version of the same 12 W inground uplighter, part number HV1843RGBW, in 316 stainless steel behind a clear tempered-glass face with an anti-glare honeycomb louvre. It recesses into a canister below ground level, finishes flush and is trafficable to 1000 kg. Where the tri-colour Split gives you three fixed white settings, this one gives full RGB colour plus a 3000K warm-white channel.
This part runs on 12 V DC constant voltage, so it needs a suitable 12 V DC LED driver — and it also needs an RGBW controller between the driver and the fitting. Havit's wiring order is driver, then controller, then fitting, and without the controller there is no way to select or change a colour at all. ⚠ A wall dimmer is the wrong accessory here; the controller is what varies the output. It is Protection Class III, so no earth is required at the fitting. ⛔ It must not be connected directly to 240 V. Supply at the fitting has to stay within ±5% of the rated voltage or the warranty is void, and wiring is parallel. The cores are colour-coded — Havit asks you to check the label on the cable and match each one before soldering. Installation is work for a qualified electrician working to AS/NZS 3000.
The built-in LED is a 12 W RGBW package: RGB plus 3000K, rated at 415 lm on the 3000K channel, through a 60° beam at CRI >80. ⚠ That 415 lm figure is the white-channel output — a colour-change fitting is chosen for the colour, not for raw brightness, and if you want the most light out of this housing the tri-colour Split in the same 12 W body is the brighter option on white. There is no globe and no socket, so nothing is ever replaced, and lamp expectancy is >30,000hrs.
It is IP67 and IK10 behind a clear glass diffuser, with a 300 mm tail. ⛔ Adequate drainage under the canister is a warranty condition, not a recommendation — Havit asks for 100–150 mm of crushed rock and a slight fall on the surrounding ground so water runs away, and states that if no drainage is allowed the warranty is void. The anti-syphon plug and the male and female connector supplied on the cable must both stay on it for the warranty to be valid. All o-rings and seals must be seated, every joint soldered and sealed watertight, and silicone run around the edge of the fitting once it is in. ⚠ 316 stainless still needs regular cleaning to stop tea staining forming, and tea staining is not covered by the warranty — Havit's HV9971 maintenance kit is made for that job. Lights For You has taken every figure on this page for HV1843RGBW from the HV1843 data sheet (AUG24), the current HV1843T / HV1843RGBW installation instructions and Havit's own page for this model, which states a 3 Years Replacement Warranty.
Yes, both. A suitable 12 V DC LED driver powers it and an RGBW controller sits between the driver and the fitting to select the colour. Havit's order is driver, then controller, then fitting. Without the controller there is no way to change colour at all.
No — that is not how this one varies. The RGBW controller is what changes colour and level. A wall dimmer on the driver circuit is the wrong accessory and can damage the driver. If you want a simple switched white light instead, the tri-colour Split in the same 12 W body is the part to look at.
415 lm on the 3000K white channel through a 60° beam. ⚠ Colour output is lower than white output on any RGBW package, which is normal — this fitting is chosen for the colour. If light level matters more, the tri-colour Split in the same housing is the brighter choice on white — its own listing carries its figures.
Yes. Havit rates the Split at 1000 kg trafficable and it is IK10. The canister still has to be set level with the finished surface, which Havit makes a warranty condition in its own right.
100–150 mm of crushed rock beneath the canister and a slight fall on the surrounding ground so water runs away from the fitting. Havit states plainly that if no drainage is allowed the warranty is void.
The cores are colour-coded rather than marked positive and negative, and Havit asks you to check the label on the cable and match each colour to the same colour on the run before soldering. Every joint is then soldered, heat-shrunk or gel-capped, and made watertight — a joint that is not watertight voids the warranty.
Yes. Havit requires regular cleaning maintenance on all 316 stainless fittings to stop tea staining forming, and states that tea staining is not covered by the warranty. Havit's HV9971 kit is the purpose-made option.
