Split 316 Stainless Steel TRI Colour 12w - 12V DC

The Split is a 12 W recessed inground uplighter in 316 stainless steel, and this listing sells the 12 V DC part, HV1843T. It drops into a canister set below ground level, finishes flush with the surface behind a clear tempered-glass face and an anti-glare honeycomb louvre, and it is trafficable to 1000 kg — so it can sit in a path or a driveway and be driven over.

Low voltage, and it needs its own driver

This part runs on 12 V DC constant voltage and an external supply is required: it has to be run from a suitable 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver. It is Protection Class III, so no earth is required at the fitting. ⛔ It must not be connected directly to 240 V. ⛔ It is also polarity sensitive — Havit's installation sheet states that a fitting connected the wrong way round will fail and the warranty is void, so match positive to positive before anything is soldered. Supply at the fitting has to stay within ±5% of the rated voltage or the warranty is void as well. Wiring is parallel, and the installation is work for a qualified electrician working to AS/NZS 3000 with the circuit isolated first.

Tri-colour, switched on the underside — set it before it goes in the ground

The built-in LED is tri-colour: 3000K, 4000K and 5500K, giving 900 lm, 1030 lm and 1200 lm respectively, through a 60° beam at CRI >80. ⚠ The selector is a switch on the bottom of the fitting, inside a sealed brass cover. On a recessed light that means choose the colour temperature before you drop it into the canister — changing it afterwards means lifting the fitting back out and re-sealing the cover. There is no globe and no socket here, so nothing is ever replaced; lamp expectancy is >30,000hrs. The fitting is not dimmable, which both of Havit's documents for this part number state.

IP67, IK10, and the conditions that carry the warranty

It is IP67 and IK10 behind a clear glass diffuser, with a 300 mm tail on it. ⛔ Adequate drainage under the canister is a warranty condition, not a recommendation — Havit asks for 100–150 mm of crushed rock and a slight fall on the surrounding ground so water runs away, and says plainly that if no drainage is allowed the warranty is void. The anti-syphon plug and the male and female connector supplied on the cable must both stay on it for the warranty to be valid. All o-rings and seals have to be seated, every joint soldered and sealed watertight, and silicone run around the edge of the fitting once it is in. ⚠ 316 stainless still needs regular cleaning to stop tea staining forming, and tea staining is not covered by the warranty — Havit sells a maintenance kit, HV9971, for exactly that job.
