Split 316 Stainless Steel 3w RGBW LED

The Split RGBW is the colour-change version of the same 3 W inground uplighter, part number HV1841RGBW, in 316 stainless steel with a clear tempered-glass face and an anti-glare honeycomb louvre. It recesses into a canister below ground level and is trafficable to 1000 kg. Where the tri-colour Split gives you three fixed white settings, this one gives full RGB colour plus a 3000K warm white channel.

It needs two things, not one

This part runs on 12 V DC constant voltage, so it needs a suitable 12 V DC LED driver — and it also needs an RGBW controller between the driver and the fitting. Havit's wiring order is driver, then controller, then fitting. Without the controller there is no way to select or change a colour at all. It is Protection Class III, so no earth is required at the fitting. ⛔ It must not be connected directly to 240 V. Supply at the fitting has to stay within ±5% of the rated voltage or the warranty is void, and wiring is parallel. The cores are colour-coded and Havit asks you to check the label on the cable and match each one before soldering. Installation is work for a qualified electrician working to AS/NZS 3000.

Output, and the accessory that is the wrong one

Havit's ordering table gives this fitting 155 lm measured on its 3000K channel, from a 3 W built-in RGBW LED at CRI >80, with a lamp expectancy of >30,000hrs. ⚠ It is dimmable only through the RGBW controller. ⛔ A wall dimmer is the wrong accessory for this fitting — Havit records its dimming as yes, with RGBW controller and lists no wall dimmer against it. There is no globe and no socket, so nothing is ever replaced.

IP67, IK10, and the conditions that carry the warranty

It is IP67 and IK10 behind a clear glass diffuser. ⛔ Adequate drainage under the canister is a warranty condition, not advice — Havit asks for 100–150 mm of crushed rock and a slight fall so water runs away from the fitting, and states that if no drainage is allowed the warranty is void. The anti-syphon plug and the male and female connector supplied on the cable must both stay on it. All o-rings and seals must be seated, every joint soldered and sealed watertight, and silicone applied around the edge of the fitting once it is seated. ⚠ 316 stainless needs regular cleaning to stop tea staining forming, and tea staining is not covered by the warranty.
