A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Klip is a 30 W recessed inground uplighter in 316 stainless steel, and this listing sells the 12 V DC part, HV1835T-12V. It drops into a canister set below ground level, finishes flush with the surface behind a clear tempered-glass face, and is trafficable to 1000 kg — so it can sit in a path, a driveway or a paved courtyard and be driven over.
This part runs on 12 V DC constant voltage and an external supply is required: it has to be run from a suitable 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver. It is Protection Class III, so no earthing is required at the fitting. ⛔ It must not be connected directly to 240 V. ⛔ It is also polarity sensitive — Havit's installation sheet states that a fitting connected the wrong way round will fail and the warranty is void, so match positive to positive before anything is soldered. Supply reaching the fitting has to stay within ±5% of the rated voltage or the warranty is void as well, and at 30 W this is a heavy low-voltage load: volt drop along a long garden run is the usual reason that limit is missed. Fittings go in parallel, and the installation is work for a qualified electrician working to AS/NZS 3000 with the circuit isolated first.
The built-in LED is tri-colour: 3000K, 4000K and 5500K, giving 2400 lm, 2550 lm and 2700 lm respectively, through a wide 120° beam at CRI >80. ⚠ The selector is a switch on the bottom of the fitting, inside a sealed brass cover, which on a recessed light means choose the colour temperature before it goes into the canister — changing it later means lifting the fitting back out and re-sealing the cover. There is no globe and no socket here, so nothing is ever replaced; lamp expectancy is >30,000hrs. The fitting is not dimmable, which both of Havit's documents for this part number state.
Havit's drawing gives the cutout with the canister as Ø238 mm. ⛔ Drainage beneath the canister is a warranty condition, not a suggestion: Havit asks for a 100 mm space under the canister and 100–150 mm of crushed rock below that, with a slight fall on the finished ground so water runs away, and says plainly that where no drainage is allowed the warranty is void. The canister must finish level with the ground. The anti-syphon plug and the male and female connector supplied on the 300 mm tail must both stay on the cable for the warranty to be valid; every o-ring and seal has to be seated, joins soldered and covered watertight, and silicone run around the edge of the fitting once it is in. It is IP67 and IK10. ⚠ 316 stainless still needs regular cleaning to stop tea staining forming, and tea staining is not covered by the warranty — Havit's HV9971 kit is made for that job. A security face with screws, HV1835-F-SH, and an anti-glare honeycomb lens, HV1835-HC, are sold separately. Lights For You took every figure on this page for HV1835T-12V from the HV1835T data sheet (NOV23), the HV1835T installation instructions and Havit's own product page for this model, which states a 3 Years Replacement Warranty.
No. This part is 12 V DC and must not be connected directly to 240 V. It needs a suitable 12 V DC constant-voltage LED driver sized for a 30 W load and for the length of the run. Havit makes the same fitting as a separate part number for installations with no driver, and that is a different listing to this one.
Yes. It is polarity sensitive. Havit's installation sheet states that a fitting connected incorrectly will fail and the warranty will be void, so match positive to positive and negative to negative before you solder anything.
Havit's drawing gives the cutout with the canister as Ø238 mm. ⚠ The same drawing carries two further diameters under a single without canister label with nothing saying which is which, so we have not published those — check the dimension drawing in the Data Sheet & Manual panel before you cut.
With a switch on the bottom of the fitting, inside a sealed brass cover. Choose 3000K, 4000K or 5500K and re-seat the cover tightly. ⚠ Do it before the fitting goes into the canister — afterwards the switch is under the light and under the ground.
Yes. Havit rates the Klip at 1000 kg trafficable and IK10, the top of the impact scale. The canister still has to be set level with the finished surface, which Havit makes a warranty condition in its own right.
No. Both of Havit's documents for this part number record it as not dimmable, so plan a switched circuit rather than a dimmed one. Reducing the supply voltage is not an alternative — it would take the fitting outside the ±5% the warranty depends on.
Yes. Havit requires regular cleaning maintenance on all 316 stainless fittings to stop tea staining forming, and states that tea staining is not covered by the warranty. A rinse and a wipe whenever the path is cleaned is usually enough; Havit's HV9971 kit is the heavier option.
