A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Metro is a flush recessed inground uplighter with a 316 stainless steel face on an aluminium body, and this listing sells the round shape in two parts: HV1801T, which runs on 12 V DC, and HV1806T, which runs on 240 V AC mains. It drops into a canister set below ground and finishes level with the surface behind clear tempered glass. Havit rates it trafficable to 600 kg and IP65, with an IK10 impact rating.
This is the one thing to get right before ordering, because both parts sit on one page and look identical in the ground.
⚠ If you are replacing an existing fitting, match the supply you already have in the ground rather than the part number on the old label.
Each part ships with a 5 W tri-colour LED globe fitted, giving 270 lm at 3000K, 285 lm at 4000K and 300 lm at 5500K through a 120° beam at CRI >80. Those figures describe the light as supplied — the beam angle belongs to the globe, not to the fitting. Havit's ceilings are 20 W for MR16 and 35 W for GU10, and the published lamp expectancy is >30,000hrs. ⚠ Havit records the fitting as not dimmable with the supplied globes, which is a statement about those globes rather than about the fitting.
The tri-colour switch is on the side of the globe and the globe leaves the factory on 3000K. Getting to it means undoing the 4 allen screws in the face, lifting the face off and easing the globe out. ⛔ Do it before the fitting is bedded and sealed.
Havit's drawing gives the cutout as Ø110 mm with the canister and Ø100 mm without, with a Ø120 mm face and a 155 mm canister. ⛔ Drainage is a warranty condition: a 100 mm space beneath the canister and 100–150 mm of crushed rock below that, and Havit states plainly that where no drainage is allowed the warranty will be voided. The canister must sit level with the ground, joints must be soldered and sealed watertight, every o-ring and seal must be in place, and silicone is run around the edge of the fitting. Runs are wired in parallel and the supply at each fitting must stay within ±5% of rated or the warranty is void.
⚠ Havit's current installation sheet restricts aluminium and 304 stainless steel fittings to no closer than 5 km from a salt water environment, and the Metro's body is aluminium behind its 316 face. ⚠ Tea staining on 316 stainless is not covered by the warranty anywhere, so plan on cleaning the face regularly. Havit's warranty is 3 Years Replacement.
Lights For You has specified Havit inground fittings into everything from courtyard gardens to commercial forecourts — send us the run length and the number of fittings and we will size the driver with you before anything is buried.
HV1801T is the 12 V DC part and needs a 12 V DC LED driver. HV1806T is the 240 V AC part and wires straight to mains without one. ⚠ The selector on this page shows the two part numbers without their supply voltage, so this is worth checking twice — the fittings are identical in the ground and completely different on the circuit.
⛔ Yes. HV1806T is Protection Class I and requires an earth; Havit's wiring step has the earths joined first. HV1801T is Class III low voltage and needs no earth. The two parts are stated separately here for exactly that reason.
Havit rates the Metro trafficable to 600 kg — foot traffic and a light domestic vehicle. ⚠ That rating assumes the canister is bedded and drained properly; it is not a rating for the surrounding paving, and a heavier vehicle is outside what Havit specifies.
Ø110 mm with the canister, Ø100 mm without, a Ø120 mm face and a 155 mm canister depth. ⚠ Add the drainage layer beneath — a 100 mm space and 100–150 mm of crushed rock — when you work out how deep to dig.
⚠ Not with the globe supplied. Havit records the Metro as not dimmable with the supplied globes, and because the base is replaceable that is a statement about the lamp rather than the fitting. If dimming matters, tell us the driver and dimmer you plan to use and we will check the combination before you order.
⚠ Havit's current installation sheet says aluminium and 304 stainless steel fittings must not be installed within 5 km of a salt water environment, and this fitting has an aluminium body. Near the coast, also plan for maintenance — tea staining on the 316 stainless face is excluded from the warranty.
