A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the Maxi Louvre 900 in bare 316 stainless steel — Havit's 900 mm bollard with a clear diffuser fitted with louvres, and the metal left visible rather than powder coated. It is the most exposed specification in the range in both senses: the louvres control where the light goes, and the bare finish carries a maintenance obligation.
At 900 mm a bollard sits near eye level for anyone walking past it. Horizontal louvres across the clear diffuser block the direct sideways view of the lamp and push the light downward onto the path, which is the difference between a fitting you notice and a surface you can see. Use it along paths, driveway edges and seating areas. The plain Maxi 900 is the better choice when you want the fitting itself to glow. Output is identical either way — the louvres redirect light rather than reduce it.
316 is the most corrosion-resistant metal in this range. Havit's page for this SKU asks that it be maintained every six months, or more frequently in coastal environments, to preserve appearance and warranty, and recommends its HV9971 maintenance kit. The issue is tea staining — the brown surface bloom that forms when salts and grime sit on stainless undisturbed — and Havit states that tea staining is not covered by warranty. The louvred head has more edges and shadowed faces than the plain one, so it is worth a little extra attention at each clean. If nobody will get to it, the poly powder coated black version of this same bollard is the more forgiving specification.
HV1618T-SS316-240V is 240 V AC, takes a 9 W E27 globe, gives 700 lm / 720 lm / 740 lm, is Protection Class 1 and requires an earth. HV1618T-SS316-12V is 12 V DC from a suitable 12 V DC LED driver, takes a 5 W MR16 globe, gives 270 lm / 285 lm / 300 lm, and is Class 3 with no earth. On the 12 V version, Havit makes two conditions of warranty: voltage at the fitting within ±5%, and no more than 25 m between fitting and driver. Multiple fittings on one driver are wired in parallel, and Havit's HV9507 and HV9508 tri-colour MR16 drivers are the ones it lists for this range.
Colour temperature is tri-colour — 3000K, 4000K or 5500K, set on a switch on the side of the globe once the cover is twisted off anti-clockwise. Supplied globes are 120° and a replacement sets its own beam. Havit caps the fitting at a maximum globe wattage of 15 W, LED globes only, and it is not dimmable with the globes supplied. CRI >80, lamp expectancy >30,000hrs. It stands 900 mm tall at Ø102 mm on a Ø98 mm base plate with four Ø6 mm fixing holes and a Ø16 mm cable entry, surface mounted onto concrete and never below finished ground level, with every hole siliconed — a warranty condition. HV1607 is the optional spike. IP54, IK08. Lights For You publishes these figures for HV1618T-SS316 from the HV1618 APR24 data sheet, Havit's 12 V and 240 V installation instructions and the supplier's own maintenance advice for the bare stainless finish, with Havit's 3 Years Replacement warranty after 01/01/22.
Because of where the light goes. Horizontal louvres across the clear diffuser stop you seeing the lamp from the side and direct more of the output downward onto the path. On a walkway, a driveway edge or beside seating that means less glare and a better-lit surface. The plain Maxi 900 is the one to pick if you want the bollard itself to read as a column of light.
No. Havit publishes the same 700 lm / 720 lm / 740 lm on 240 V and 270 lm / 285 lm / 300 lm on 12 V for both. The louvres redirect the light rather than absorb the lamp's output.
Havit's own page for this SKU says every six months, and more frequently in coastal environments, with its HV9971 maintenance kit. The louvred head has more edges than the plain one, so give it a little longer at each clean. Left undone, tea staining forms, and Havit does not cover tea staining under warranty.
Same fitting, same output, same price. Bare 316 stainless if you want the metal visible and the six-monthly clean will actually happen; poly powder coated black if it is going somewhere awkward to reach or you would rather it disappear.
The 240 V AC version — Protection Class 1, and Havit's wiring order is earth first, then live and neutral. The 12 V DC version is Class 3, needs no earth, and must never be connected directly to 240 V.
Yes, on the 12 V DC version, wired in parallel. Size the driver for the total load and keep every fitting within 25 m of it with voltage at the fitting inside ±5% — Havit treats both as warranty conditions, not as guidance.
A 9 W E27 on the 240 V version or a 5 W MR16 on the 12 V, up to Havit's 15 W maximum, LED globes only. Check the beam angle you are buying: the supplied globes are 120°, and the louvres shape light the globe has already spread.
