Onder RGBW 316 stainless steel submersible pond light

This is the RGBW version of the Onder — a 5W submersible pond light in 316 stainless steel that produces coloured light and white light from the same fitting. The W in RGBW is what separates it from a plain RGB fitting: rather than mixing red, green and blue to approximate white, it carries a dedicated white element, so the fitting can do a proper white wash on an ordinary evening and colour when there is a reason to.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Mixed-RGB white tends to look thin and slightly off on planting and stone, which is why RGB-only water features so often end up switched off. A fitting with a real white channel stays useful the rest of the year.

Built for immersion

The body is 316 stainless steel and the fitting is rated IP68 for continuous immersion. Havit specifies it for submersion to a depth of up to 1000mm, and it is supplied with a 6000mm cable tail — a detail worth checking against your own layout early, because the distance from the fitting's position to the nearest junction is what decides whether the cable reaches without a submerged join.

316 is the stainless grade specified for sustained contact with water that carries minerals, organic acids and pond treatment chemicals. A lesser grade pits and stains in exactly those conditions.

Power and installation

The Onder RGBW runs on 12V DC and is a Class 3 low-voltage fitting, so no earth is required at the fitting itself. It needs a 12V driver on the circuit, and that driver is not part of this listing. Keeping the wiring in and around water at low voltage is the reason a submersible fitting can be specified in a domestic pond at all.

Installation is work for a licensed electrician. Set the fitting's position and check the beam with the pump running before anything is backfilled or bedded in — moving water changes what a submerged beam does, and a position chosen on a still surface often turns out to be the wrong one.

Living with a colour-changing fitting

Decide up front how the colour will be controlled and who will be doing it, because that is what determines whether a colour-changing pond gets used. A fitting driven from a controller nobody can reach, or one that resets to a colour cycle every time the power blips, becomes the fitting that stays off.

Plan on cleaning the lens whenever the pond is serviced, too. Anything underwater grows a film, and a submerged light left to green over will dim steadily and get blamed for failing when it only needs a wipe.
