Matt Black Single Adjustable Tivah

The Tivah single adjustable is a wall and pillar light that aims — 90° of tilt and 270° of swivel on a black powder-coated backing plate — so it is specified when the thing you want to light is not directly below the fitting. A tree, a house number, a gate leaf, the face of a pillar at an angle to the wall: all cases where a fixed downlight points at nothing useful.

Three versions, and the choice is electrical

This listing carries three order codes and they are genuinely different products, not finishes. HV1225T has a built-in LED and needs no globe at all. HV1227GU10T takes a mains-voltage GU10 globe on 240 V AC. HV1227MR16T takes a 12 V DC MR16 globe and therefore requires a 12 V DC LED driver. Decide the electrical arrangement before the finish: the built-in version is the simplest to install and never needs a lamp; the GU10 lets you change the globe without touching the fitting; the MR16 gives you a low-voltage circuit with no earth at the fitting, which suits a long garden run fed from one central driver.

Where it works

• Driveway and gate pillars, one either side, angled to wash the pillar face rather than the ground.
• Uplighting a tree or a rendered blade wall from a fixed point on an adjacent wall.
• House numbers, letterboxes and signage that need light aimed at them specifically.
• Coastal and rain-exposed positions — IP65 covers direct rain and hose wash-down.

Specifying it

Tri-colour switching covers 3000 K, 4000 K and 5500 K. Output depends on which version you buy: the built-in 3 W LED gives 270 lm, 285 lm and 300 lm across the three settings, while the globe versions depend on the lamp you fit. The body is powder-coated aluminium in textured black with a high-output reflector, IP65, and CRI is above 80. Neither globe version is dimmable with the globes supplied — if dimming matters, confirm the lamp you intend to fit is dimmable and that the dimmer suits it. The MR16 version must never be connected directly to 240 V.

Globe wattage limits

If you are fitting your own lamp, do not exceed the socket’s limit: the maximum the 240 V GU10 socket accepts is 35 W, and the maximum the 12 V MR16 socket accepts is 20 W. Those are thermal limits on the fitting, not a recommendation, and an oversized lamp will cook the housing.
