A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
This is the single-head, fixed-down Tivah Mini — a Ø40mm 316 stainless steel body standing 83mm tall, throwing light downward only. It is the smallest fitting in the Tivah family and the most restrained: mounted on a pillar, a letterbox column or a narrow entry wall, it lights the ground beneath it and does nothing else.
Fixed-down is a deliberate choice rather than a cheaper one. An up/down fitting on a low pillar throws light into the eyeline of anyone approaching, and on a boundary wall it lights the neighbour's outlook as much as your own. A downward-only fitting puts the light where people walk and leaves the rest of the wall dark.
The Tivah Mini takes an MR11 LED globe rated at 3W in this fitting, with a 60° beam and colour rendering above 80 CRI. Because MR11 is a standard replaceable base rather than a sealed module, the light source can be changed over the life of the fitting — and the colour, output and dimming behaviour follow whatever globe is fitted rather than being locked in at manufacture.
That matters on a small stainless fitting more than it might elsewhere. The housing is the expensive, durable part; the globe is the consumable. Being able to replace one without the other is what keeps a fitting like this in service for years.
The body is 316 stainless steel, the grade specified for exposure to salt air, pool chemistry and sprinkler overspray. On a coated aluminium fitting those conditions eventually find an edge and lift the finish; on 316 they do not.
It is worth noting that stainless is not maintenance-free. In coastal air, 316 fittings benefit from an occasional wash to prevent the surface staining that otherwise appears as brown speckling — it is cosmetic rather than structural, but it is easier to prevent than to remove.
The fitting runs on 12V DC and requires a 12V driver on the circuit, which is not supplied. Low voltage is what makes a small exterior fitting straightforward to add to an existing garden run — but check the capacity remaining on the installed driver before adding to it.
It is rated IP65 for dust and jetted water. Installation is work for a licensed electrician. Because the beam is fixed and fairly tight at 60°, mounting height decides the size of the pool of light on the ground — worth a moment's thought before the fixing holes are drilled.
No. This is the fixed-down version — light goes down only. The double-headed Tivah Mini on its own listing does both.
An MR11 LED globe, rated 3W in this fitting.
Yes. It runs on 12V DC and the driver is not supplied.
Ø40mm and 83mm tall.
An occasional wash in coastal air prevents surface tea staining. It is cosmetic rather than structural.
