Highlite Up/Down LED Wall Light TRI Colour

The Highlite is the up-and-down wall pillar light to reach for when the wall has no eave over it. At IP65 it is rated against jets of water rather than splashing, which is the difference between a fitting that can face weather and one that cannot — and it is the reason this model sits on pillars, gate posts and open facades where a splash-rated fitting does not belong. It takes two replaceable GU10 globes and both are supplied, tri-colour, so the light can be tuned after installation.

The one restriction to read before buying globes

Havit limits this fitting to 10 W per globe and to LED globes only. That is half the ceiling of most GU10 fittings and it is a technology restriction as well as a wattage one: a halogen GU10 of the same wattage runs far hotter, and the enclosed Perspex head is not built for it. Both the data sheet and the installation sheet state it, and the fitting's own label repeats it. Fit a 10 W LED GU10 or smaller, and nothing else.

Specifying it

240 V AC, no driver required, Class 1 with the earth connected first. The two supplied 5 W globes give 10 W in total and 540 lm at 3000K, 570 lm at 4000K or 600 lm at 5500K — Havit's per-head figures are 270, 285 and 300 lm. The fitting's own optic spreads 120°; the narrower 60° figure that appears in Havit's literature belongs to its optional dimmable GU10 globes, because on a globe-based fitting the beam is a property of the globe you fit, not of the housing. Colour temperature is switched on each globe: twist the cover off anti-clockwise, take the globe out, slide the switch, and refit with the seal seated. Aluminium body in black or titanium, clear Perspex diffuser, IP65, IK06, and a 3-year replacement warranty.

Installing it so the warranty survives

Seal every hole in the backing plate, including the cable entry and the screw holes — Havit states that failing to do so voids the warranty — then silicone around the whole base plate once the fitting is on. All o-rings and seals must be seated. Aluminium fittings must not be installed within 5 km of salt water; on a coastal site choose a 316 stainless or solid brass fitting instead.
