Product Description
xThis is a 7 W GU10 LED globe with a 38° beam, 560 lm, CRI above 90, and switchable 3000 K / 4000 K / 5000 K. Not dimmable.
You screw this in yourself. Our page ended with “This fitting must be installed by a licensed electrician” — on a light globe. It is a lamp, not a fitting. Push it into the holder and twist. Removed.
CRI above 90 — and this is the reason to buy it
Our page never mentioned it, and it is the specification that separates this globe from a cheap one.
Most GU10 LEDs sit at CRI 80. This one records above 90, and in the places GU10s actually go, that shows:
- Over a kitchen bench — food, timber and stone keep their colour instead of going flat and grey.
- On artwork, joinery or a feature wall — pigments and grain read true.
- In a wardrobe or dressing area — you can tell navy from black.
If you already own GU10 fittings, this is a straightforward upgrade to the light in them, with no wiring and no new fittings — which is the cheapest real improvement available in a house.
“Wide” 38 degrees — and what that actually means
⚠ 38° is wide for a GU10 spot and narrow for a downlight, and the title can mislead either way.
- Against other GU10 spots, which commonly come at 24° or tighter, 38° is the broader option — that is what “wide” means here.
- Against a general downlight, it is narrow: the POD 110 in this catalogue is 120°.
So this is a task and accent beam, not a room-lighting one. It gives a defined pool with a soft edge — wide enough not to spotlight a single object, tight enough to light a bench and not the whole kitchen.
Spacing follows from that: a 38° beam wants fittings closer together than a 120° one, or you get scallops between them. Tell us your ceiling height and we will work it through.
Three colour temperatures from one globe
3000 K warm, 4000 K neutral, 5000 K cool, selectable on the globe itself.
That is genuinely useful, and for a reason people underrate: it lets you try a colour temperature before committing to it. Buy one, set it, live with it for a week, and change it if it is wrong — where an integrated fitting locks the decision in at installation and a fixed globe means buying again.
Which to choose: 3000 K for living rooms and bedrooms; 4000 K over a kitchen bench where you work; 5000 K for a garage, laundry or workshop. ⚠ Set every globe in one room the same — a run of downlights with one at 4000 K among 3000s is obvious and irritating.
⚠ It does NOT dim — check this before you buy. If your GU10 fittings are on a wall dimmer, a non-dimmable globe will flicker, buzz, refuse to strike, or fail early. It is not a matter of dimming it a little; it must be on a plain switch.
If your circuit has a dimmer, ask us — we will supply a dimmable GU10 instead, and match it to the dimmer you actually have.
7 watts, 560 lumens
80 lm/W — efficient, and a straightforward replacement for a 50 W halogen GU10, which gave roughly the same light for seven times the power and a great deal of heat. On a run of ten fittings, that is 500 W becoming 70.
56 mm long, in polycarbonate, IP20 — indoor and dry locations only. It runs on standard 240 V mains with no transformer — GU10 is a mains-voltage base, unlike the low-voltage MR16 it is often confused with.
⚠ One thing to check on an older fitting: if your downlights currently take MR16 globes (two thin pins, and a transformer above the ceiling), this will not fit them. GU10 has two stubby pins that twist and lock. Send us a photo of what you are replacing if you are unsure.

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.
Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.
Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.
Damaged or Missing Items
Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.
If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.
Returns
Change of Mind Returns
- Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
- The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations
Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
