A freestanding post light in poly powder coated black aluminium, carrying a six-panel glazed lantern that takes an E27 globe. Six glazed faces rather than four give the lantern a rounder profile and spread the light more evenly around the post, which suits a position seen from several directions — the middle of a path, a turning circle, or a bed that is walked around rather than past.
A post light lifts the source above head height so light falls across an area rather than pooling at the base. That is the practical case for one over a bollard where a path is open on both sides.
An E27 globe is required for the fitting to light. Havit rates the Fibra with an 8W LED filament globe producing 700lm at a warm 2700K, with colour rendering above 80 CRI.
The filament globe is the right choice for the style. A coach lantern is glazed so the light source is visible, and a filament globe looks like it belongs there where a flat opal one looks like a modern fitting hiding in a traditional case. Because the base is standard E27, the globe can be changed over the fitting's life without touching the post.
The fitting runs on 240V AC mains and Havit lists it as Triac dimmable, so it works with a conventional LED-rated wall dimmer. With a replaceable globe, the globe fitted must also be dimmable for the circuit to behave.
It is a Class 1 fitting and requires an earth connection. The beam is 120°, spread through the six glazed panels.
A post light is not a fitting you mount; it is a small structure you found. The post needs a concrete footing sized for the ground it is going into, with the conduit brought up through it before the concrete is poured.
Get that wrong and the post leans within a season, which on a vertical element beside a straight driveway is immediately obvious. The fitting is rated IP44 for splashing water and IK04 for impact. Havit states that aluminium and 304 stainless fittings must not be installed within 5km of any salt water environment. Installation is work for a licensed electrician.
Six, which spreads the light evenly around the post.
An E27 globe. Havit rates it with an 8W LED filament globe at 700lm and 2700K.
Havit lists it as Triac dimmable. The globe fitted must also be a dimmable one.
Yes. The post needs a concrete footing with the conduit brought up through it before the concrete is poured.
Not within 5km of a salt water environment, per Havit's stated condition.
