Smoke glass keeps the globes visible

This is the difference from the opal version. Smoke is tinted but transparent, so the globes inside stay visible as dark points of light rather than disappearing into a glow. The lamp reads as two moody spheres instead of two soft lanterns — contemporary rather than traditional, and it holds its form against a pale wall where opal would dissolve.

Fit filament globes — here it matters

Because you can see through smoke glass, the globe itself becomes part of the object. A decorative filament globe is genuinely worth the money in this version, where in the opal one it would be invisible.

Two spheres, deliberately offset

The globes sit at different heights on the same stem rather than symmetrically, so the lamp reads as a composition from every angle. It is why it works in a corner where a symmetrical lamp looks static.

Mouth-blown, so no two are identical

Hand-blown glass varies slightly in wall thickness and form — and in smoke, where you look through it, that variation is more visible than in opal. It is what separates blown glass from moulded.

A long cable

2,400 mm, noticeably longer than the 1,800 mm most lamps here carry — it reaches a socket across a room without an extension.

Two E27 globes — assume you need them

Our sources disagree on whether globes are supplied, so plan on buying two and ask us. On a two-sphere lamp in transparent glass, buy them together — a mismatch is unmissable.
