Emerson 45Cm Pendant Light

The Emerson PE45 is a 450 mm industrial-style iron pendant — one E27 globe to 25 W, not supplied — in antique gold, black, chrome or nickel, on a 1,200 mm suspension.

The statement size

450 mm wide by 310 mm high, at 2.1 kg — nearly twice the weight of the 250 mm. At this scale one pendant holds a dining table on its own, and the shade becomes the object in the room rather than a detail in it. Do not hang three of these; hang one.

Four finishes, and at 450 mm the choice is loud

• Chrome — polished and reflective. At this size it throws light and reflections across the room, which is either the point or a problem.
• Nickel — the same metal tone, calmer. The safer choice at 450 mm.
• Black — a large solid silhouette, and the one that anchors a table.
• Antique gold — warm and aged; on a shade this size it reads as a vintage industrial piece rather than an accent.

One E27 to 25 W, not supplied. At 450 mm a small plain globe will look lost, so this is the Emerson where the globe choice matters most: a large decorative filament globe fills the shade and completes the fitting. Dimming is globe dependent — a dimmable globe with a wall dimmer will dim it. Our record says “No”, which is misleading.
