Elgin 24V Exterior Step Wall Light

The Elgin is a 100 mm exterior step and wall light — 24 V, 3 W, 175 lm at 3000 K, CRI 90, IP65 — in black or corten.

CRI 90 on a step light, which almost nothing else does

Step lights are usually specified on lumens and forgotten. At CRI 90 the Elgin renders stone, timber decking, render and planting the way they actually look instead of flattening them to grey. If it is grazing a travertine step or a timber deck — which is exactly what it is for — that is worth more than another fifty lumens.

Genuinely exposed-rated

IP65 — dust tight and protected against water jets from any direction. Unlike the indoor step lights in this range, the Elgin belongs outside: open stairs, garden steps, a path edge in the weather. No eave needed.

Narrow, so it fits a riser

40 mm wide, 100 mm high, projecting 58 mm. Tall and slim rather than square — the proportion that fits a stair riser or a narrow pier where a round fitting will not sit. At 0.18 kg it is essentially weightless on the wall.

Low voltage, which matters outdoors

Class III — under 54 volts past the driver. In a garden, where cable runs get dug up and sit in wet ground for years, that is the safest way to do it. Several fittings can share one driver on a single low-voltage circuit.

Black or corten

Black disappears; corten is the weathered-steel rust tone for render, timber and natural-materials schemes. Both sand finished.

Specifying it

40 mm wide, 100 mm high, 58 mm projection, 0.18 kg, in aluminium, glass and polycarbonate, sand finish. Integrated 3 W LED giving 175 lm at 3000 K, included, CRI 90. Not dimmable. 24 V — driver required, not included, Class III — low voltage, under 54 V, IP65 — dust tight and water-jet protected. Warranty is three years, as a replacement warranty.
