The Econe 96 is a ø96 mm recessed downlight — 10 W for 850 lm at CRI above 93, three colour temperatures including 2700 K, TRIAC dimmable, IC-4 — with a five-year warranty.
That is the reason to choose it. Most downlights sit at CRI 80 and a good one reaches 90. At >93 the Econe renders skin, timber, stone, fabric and food almost as daylight does. In a kitchen, a bathroom mirror or a room with timber joinery, that is the difference between surfaces looking like themselves and looking slightly grey.
Worth stating plainly. Several fittings in this catalogue carry a five-year claim on their datasheet that no other source supports, and we publish the shorter term on those. The Econe is the first where both the datasheet and the product record say five years — so it is published as five, with confidence.
⛔ IP40 — NOT for bathrooms. IP40 is dust protected with no water protection at all. That is different from the IP44 downlights in this range, which are splash rated and bathroom-legal. If it is going in a bathroom, laundry or anywhere near water, ask us for an IP44 downlight instead.
2700, 3000 or 4000 K — and the warm end is genuinely warm. Most tri-colour downlights run 3000/4000/5000 K; having 2700 K means the Econe can go in a living room or a bedroom without feeling clinical.
Wider than a spot, narrower than a floodlight. 50° covers a room evenly without scalloping the walls, and it is the angle that suits general room lighting rather than accenting.
IC-4 means insulation may be laid directly over it — no clearance gap, no hole cut above every fitting. And the 90 mm cut-out is the standard Australian hole, so it drops into most existing ceilings with no new cutting. Cable tail 980 mm, and it weighs 0.22 kg.
TRIAC (leading-edge), so a run of Econes dims together from one dimmer. Check compatibility with us if yours is trailing-edge or smart.
ø96 mm fitting, 90 mm cut-out, cable 980 mm, 0.22 kg, in aluminium and polycarbonate with a clear diffuser, white. Integrated 10 W LED giving 850 lm, included, switchable 2700/3000/4000 K, CRI >93, beam 50°, dimmable — TRIAC. 240 V, Class I — earth required, IC-4 — insulation may cover it, IP40 — dust protected, NO water protection. Warranty is FIVE years, confirmed by both sources.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Five years — and this one is confirmed by both the datasheet and the product record. Several fittings here carry a five-year claim on the sheet alone, and we publish the shorter term on those.
No. IP40 is dust protected with no water protection at all — different from the IP44 downlights in this range, which are splash rated and bathroom-legal. Ask us for an IP44 fitting instead.
Skin, timber, stone, fabric and food rendered almost as daylight does. Most downlights sit at 80 and a good one reaches 90 — this is the highest downlight figure in the range.
Probably — it takes the standard 90 mm Australian cut-out, so it drops into most existing ceilings with no new cutting.
Yes — IC-4, so insulation may be laid directly over with no clearance gap.
Yes, on a TRIAC (leading-edge) dimmer, so a run dims together. Check with us if yours is trailing-edge or smart.
Most tri-colour downlights run 3000/4000/5000 K. Having genuinely warm 2700 K means it can go in a living room or bedroom without feeling clinical.
