The Domus THOR-PRO-32 Baffle is a replaceable internal baffle for the 32 W THOR-PRO head — available in white or black.
⭐ The baffle is inside and the body is outside; they do different jobs. ⭐ A white body with a black baffle disappears against a pale ceiling while presenting a dark aperture — ⭐ which is what most high-end specification uses. ⚠ A black body with a white baffle is the worst combination available: a visible fitting with a bright eye. ⭐ On an exposed-services or dark ceiling, black body with black baffle is right — ⚠ but note the head's own black finish may cost output, and on this size that figure is not published.
⛔ No datasheet is attached, and the baffle's material, depth and cut-off contribution are not published. ⭐ The depth determines how much of the source it hides, so it is the figure that matters. ⛔ The 32 W head itself publishes no lumen figures anywhere in the catalogue, so the baffle's effect on output cannot be stated either — and we have not estimated it. ⭐ Its record publishes bulb_type = Built-in LED on a metal ring; ⭐ all ten optical accessories here carry an electrical field. ⭐ Tell us the mounting height and the viewing positions and we will get the figures from Domus.

| Options | White (52579) · ⭐ Black (52580) |
| ⭐⭐ On this head | ⭐ Black is the sensible default |
| ⭐ Why | ⭐ Brightest head, ⭐ usually mounted high, ⭐ visible from far off |
| ⭐⭐ Glare compounds with height | ⭐ More people, for longer |
| ⚠ The common assumption | ⚠ That height puts it out of the way — ⭐ it does not |
| ⚠ And narrow optics | ⚠ Concentrate the source as well as the beam |
| ⭐ The full set at 32 W | ⭐ Black baffle + careful aim + honeycomb |
| ⭐ Specify at the outset | ⭐ Retrofitting them means a lift |
| ⚠ Do not match to the body | ⛔ Black body + white baffle is the worst combination |
| ⛔ Depth / head output | ⛔ Neither published — ⭐ and neither estimated |
Replaceable internal baffle for THOR-PRO-32 heads. White or black. ⭐⭐ GLARE CONTROL COMPOUNDS WITH MOUNTING HEIGHT, AND THE COMMON ASSUMPTION IS THE OPPOSITE. A fitting at 2.7 m is seen by people directly beneath it and briefly; a fitting at 6 m is in the upper field of view from most of the room, continuously — so the same bright aperture is seen by more people for longer as the mounting rises. ⭐ AND THE NARROW OPTICS THAT SUIT THIS HEAD MAKE IT WORSE, because concentrating the beam concentrates the source. ⭐ THE FULL SET ON A 32 W HEAD IN AN OCCUPIED SPACE IS BLACK BAFFLE, CAREFUL AIM AND A HONEYCOMB — specify all three at the outset, because retrofitting them means a lift.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Black, in any position where people can see the fitting. It is the brightest head in the range and it is usually mounted high, which means the aperture is visible from a long way off and from many positions rather than only from directly beneath. A lit white ring at 6 metres is seen across a whole atrium.
A warehouse or a plant room, where output matters and appearance does not. The light a black baffle absorbs is light that does not reach the floor, so where nobody is looking at the fitting, white wins.
It increases it, and the common assumption is the opposite. A fitting at 2.7m is seen by people directly beneath it and briefly; a fitting at 6m is in the upper field of view from most of the room, continuously. The same bright aperture is seen by more people for longer as the mounting rises, which is why high-mounted schemes need more glare control rather than less.
No — they make it worse. A 15 or 24 degree reflector concentrates the source as well as the beam, and those are exactly the optics that suit a 32W head. So the configuration that lights the subject best is also the one with the harshest direct view.
All three: black baffle, careful aim, and a honeycomb. Specify them at the outset rather than as remedies, because retrofitting them on a 6 metre mounting means a lift — and a lift booked twice costs more than the accessories.
