The Domus THOR-PRO-15 Reflector is a replaceable beam-shaping reflector for the 15 W THOR-PRO head — available at 15°, 24°, 45° and 60°.

⭐⭐ The beam angle is not fixed — and we said otherwise one batch ago
  • ⭐ The THOR-PRO head ships with a 36° reflector, and its datasheet lists “15º, 24º, 36º, 45º & 60º (36º Standard)”.
  • ⛔ WE READ “36º Standard” AS “THE ONLY OPTION” AND WROTE THAT THE BEAM ANGLE WAS FIXED AT PURCHASE. ⭐ It means the reflector supplied.
  • ⭐⭐ THIS PRODUCT IS THE PROOF: reflectors are sold separately, at their own SKU, per angle — ⭐ and the same is true for the 23 W and 32 W heads.
  • ⭐ THE CORRECTION MATTERS BECAUSE THE ADVICE WAS EXPENSIVE. ⭐ We suggested buying a mix of differently-angled heads. ⭐ You do not need to: buy one specification of head and a handful of reflectors.
⭐ What a reflector actually changes, and what it does not
  • ⭐ A reflector is a shaped cone sitting in front of the LED. ⭐ Its geometry determines how tightly the light is gathered.
  • ⭐⭐ THE LUMENS DO NOT CHANGE — THE CONCENTRATION DOES. ⭐ The same 1,300 lumens through a 15° reflector produces a small intense pool; through 60° it produces a wide soft one. ⭐ Illuminance on the target rises sharply as the angle narrows, because the same light covers less area.
  • ⭐ ROUGHLY, FROM A 3 m CEILING TO A 1 m SURFACE:
    • ⭐ 15° — a pool about 0.5 m across. ⭐ A single object.
    • ⭐ 24° — about 0.9 m. ⭐ A mannequin, a plinth, a small bay.
    • ⭐ 36° — about 1.3 m. ⭐ A shelf bay or a table.
    • ⭐ 45° — about 1.7 m. ⭐ A counter run.
    • ⭐ 60° — about 2.3 m. ⭐ General lighting.
  • ⚠ WHAT A REFLECTOR CANNOT DO IS FIX A BAD MOUNTING POSITION. ⭐ Narrowing the beam makes a mis-aimed fitting miss more precisely.
⭐ How to order them, now that the angle is changeable
  • ⭐⭐ THE SENSIBLE ORDER IS ONE SPECIFICATION OF HEAD PLUS A SPARES BOX. ⭐ Take the 36° heads as supplied, then a handful of 24° reflectors for feature positions and a few 60° for any area that turns out to need washing rather than accenting.
  • ⭐ THAT IS CHEAPER AND MORE FLEXIBLE THAN SPECIFYING ANGLES PER POSITION AT FITOUT — ⭐ because the display will move, and the right angle for a position in March is not the right one in September.
  • ⭐ KEEP THE SPARES ON SITE RATHER THAN IN AN OFFICE. ⭐ A reflector that is twenty minutes away gets used; one that needs ordering does not, and the display stays wrong.
  • ⭐ Tell us the number of heads and how many feature positions the space has, and we will suggest a spares mix.

Questions
Can I change the beam angle after installation?

Yes — that is what this product is for. The head ships with a 36 degree reflector and reflectors are sold separately at 15, 24, 45 and 60 degrees. We got this wrong one batch earlier: we read the head sheet's "(36º Standard)" as meaning the only option, where it means the reflector supplied, and wrote that the beam angle was fixed at purchase. It is not.

Does that change how I should order?

It should. We had suggested buying a mix of differently-angled heads, which is the expensive way round. Buy one specification of head — the 36 degree as supplied — and a spares box of reflectors: a handful of 24 degree for feature positions and a few 60 degree for any area that turns out to need washing rather than accenting.

Why is that better than specifying angles per position?

Because the display will move. The right angle for a position in March is not the right one in September, and a fitout with angles fixed per position loses the flexibility that track was bought for. Keep the spares on site rather than in an office — a reflector twenty minutes away gets used, one that needs ordering does not, and the display stays wrong.

Does a narrower reflector make it brighter?

On the target, yes; in total, no. The lumens do not change — the concentration does. The same 1,300 lumens through a 15 degree reflector produces a small intense pool and through 60 degrees a wide soft one, so illuminance on the target rises sharply as the angle narrows because the same light covers less area.

What pool size will I get?

From a 3m ceiling to a 1m surface, roughly: 15 degrees gives about 0.5m across, 24 about 0.9m, 36 about 1.3m, 45 about 1.7m and 60 about 2.3m. Choose from the object rather than the room.

Will a narrow reflector fix a poorly placed fitting?

No — it will make it miss more precisely. Narrowing the beam concentrates the light, which is unforgiving of aim. If a position is wrong, move the head; that is what track is for.

Why does the listing show wattage and lumens?

Because the attached datasheet is the head's. It publishes 15W, 1,200 to 1,300 lumens, CRI ≥90 and three colour temperatures, and those belong to the head — a reflector has a shape, a material and an angle. The record also carries bulb_type, which a reflector has no business having: across the ten optical accessories in this catalogue, all ten publish at least one electrical field.

Warranties

For all warranty claims please ensure you have your proof of purchase at hand, an invoice from your electrician from the installation and check the faulty product is within the applicable warranty period. Warranty is replacement only.

Lights For You is not responsible for damages caused by unprofessional installation, modified products or manipulated by the customer or by any other person not authorised by the manufacturer; as well as by improper use, manipulation and/or short circuits, apparent signs of improper treatment.

Faulty items: lodge warranty directly with the brand (manufacturer). Keep proof of purchase.

Damaged or Missing Items

Notification of any damages or missing items must be received by Lights For You within seven (7) days of receipt of the product. Please email photos to ashfield@lightsforyou.com.au.

If the product is to be repaired or replaced, it must correspond to the one originally sent by Lights For You and the customer must include the delivery note and/or invoice.

Change of Mind Returns

  • Customers who wish to return a product due to a change of mind or cancelled order may do so within thirty (30) days of receipt.
  • The customer is responsible for the shipping costs for a change of mind return, irrespective of any free, discounted or any other type of shipping promotion that may have been applicable at the time of your order. This includes any costs you incur for us shipping the product to you in the first place and the cost of shipping the product back to us.

Cancellations

Customers who wish to cancel all or part of an order due to change of mind or incorrectly ordered may do subject to cancelling in within 12 hours, during business hours from time of purchase. Once products have been shipped, you cannot cancel them.
