The Domus SLENDA-RND 300 is a surface-mounted LED oyster — 300 mm, 12 W or 18 W switchable, 3000/4000/5000 K switchable, IP54, double insulated, in white or black.
| At 12 W | White | Black | ⭐ Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3000 K | 1,393 lm | 1,374 lm | −1.4% |
| 4000 K | 1,456 lm | ⭐ 1,457 lm | ⭐ +0.1% |
| 5000 K | 1,406 lm | ⭐ 1,416 lm | ⭐ +0.7% |
⭐ Two wattages by three colour temperatures. ⭐ The practical value is stock rather than flexibility: one box covers a bathroom that wants 4000 K at full output and a bedroom that wants 3000 K at the lower setting. ⚠ THE TRAP IS THE SAME AS ON EVERY SWITCHABLE FITTING — the setting is chosen at installation and rarely checked afterwards. ⭐ Two oysters in one room on different settings is obvious and irritating. ⭐ Set them all before the ceiling closes up and write the setting down.
⭐ Polypropylene and polystyrene body, double insulated — ⭐ so it installs where there is no earth wire at the fitting. ⭐ That is common in older Australian housing, and a Class I metal fitting cannot legally go there without rewiring the circuit. ⭐ On a house being re-lit rather than rewired, this property is often what makes the job possible at all.
⛔ The product record lists 18 W only, where the fitting is 12/18 W switchable, and 3000 K and 4000 K only, where it offers three. ⭐ The same two omissions appear on all three SLENDA sizes. ⭐ We have published the sheet's figures, which describe what the fitting actually does.
| Specification | Value |

Surface-mounted LED oyster, 300 mm. 12 W or 18 W switchable, 3000/4000/5000 K switchable. 1,393–1,456 lm at 12 W, ~2,100 lm at 18 W. CRI ≥80, 100° beam. IP54. Double insulated. Dimmable. 5-year residential / 3-year commercial warranty. ⭐⭐ ON THIS SIZE THE BLACK AND WHITE VERSIONS MEASURE THE SAME — a mean difference of 0.2%, with black marginally brighter at two of the three colour temperatures. That matters for what it rules out: a dark interior absorbing light would predict a consistent loss at every size, and across the three SLENDA sizes the gap runs 2.6%, 0.2% and 6.7%. ⭐ SO ON THIS SIZE, CHOOSE THE COLOUR PURELY ON APPEARANCE. ⭐ It is also the size that fits the most rooms, and the sensible default when specifying a whole house.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Not on this size. The mean difference is 0.2%, and at two of the three colour temperatures the black version measures marginally brighter — 1,457 against 1,456 lumens at 4000K, and 1,416 against 1,406 at 5000K. Choose the colour purely on appearance here.
It is, on that size — 6 to 8%. Across the three SLENDA sizes the gap runs 2.6% on the 250mm, 0.2% here and 6.7% on the 400mm. We report each size's own figures rather than a range-wide rule, because there is not one.
The obvious explanation for a black fitting being dimmer — a dark interior absorbing light a white one would reflect back out — predicts a consistent loss at every size, and that does not happen. An 8.8-point spread within one product family reads as separately-measured products carrying ordinary variation rather than an optical mechanism. We are not going to claim more than the data supports.
This one, as the default. The 250mm suits a hallway, a WC or a walk-in robe; the 400mm suits a living room. The 300mm covers bedrooms, bathrooms, laundries and small studies — which on a typical house is most of the rooms that need an oyster at all. Buying one size in quantity and the other two in ones and twos is usually cheaper and always simpler.
1,393 to 1,456 lumens at the 12W setting depending on colour temperature, rising to around 2,100 at 18W. At 12W a dozen of them is 144 watts, which sits comfortably on a shared lighting circuit.
The setting is chosen at installation and rarely checked afterwards. Two oysters in one room on different settings is obvious and irritating. Set them all before the ceiling closes up and write the setting down somewhere.
It installs where there is no earth wire at the fitting, which is common in older Australian housing. A Class I metal fitting cannot legally go there without rewiring the circuit; this can. On a house being re-lit rather than rewired, that property is often what makes the job possible at all.
