DOMUS SHADOWLINE-600 LED VANITY LIGHT

The Domus SHADOW-LINE 600 is a surface-mounted LED vanity profile — 600 mm, 6 W, 240 V, in anodised aluminium, black or white, at 3000, 4000 or 5000 K.

⛔⛔ Its wattage field belongs to the 900 mm model

• ⭐ The datasheet says 6 W. The product record says 9 W. ⭐ 9 W is what the 900 mm model draws.
• ⭐⭐ THE LUMEN FIGURES SETTLE IT WITHOUT ASKING ANYONE. ⭐ Divide published lumens by published watts and the two lengths should agree, because they are the same LED at two lengths:

• ⭐ THREE CELLS AGREE EXACTLY AT 6 W AND NONE AGREE AT 9. ⭐ It is 6 W. ⭐ We have published 6.
• ⭐ WHY IT MATTERS PRACTICALLY: 6 W against 9 is a third less load, and on a vanity circuit shared with a heat lamp or a fan that headroom is sometimes the deciding number.

⛔ Its IP field says IP20 and its own footnote says IP44 — above a basin

• ⭐ The record publishes IP20. The sheet's own footnote reads “IP44 rating is from the underside…”. ⛔ Both SHADOWLINE listings carry the same disagreement, and no other product in the catalogue does.
• ⭐⭐ ON A VANITY LIGHT THAT IS THE MOST CONSEQUENTIAL FIELD ON THE PAGE. ⭐ IP20 means no protection against water at all. IP44 means protected against splashing from any direction. ⭐ Above a basin, in a bathroom zone, that is the difference between compliant and not.
• ⭐ WE HAVE PUBLISHED NEITHER AS A RATING AND HAVE ASKED DOMUS. ⭐ Until it is confirmed, treat this as an IP20 fitting — the more cautious of the two — and keep it out of any zone requiring splash protection. ⚠ If your installation depends on IP44, ask us before ordering.
• ⭐ The footnote also describes a ceiling installation, which this is not — ⭐ it is wall mounted. ⭐ It is the same boilerplate found on six other non-ceiling products.

⚠ Its lumen table quotes colours it does not sell

⭐ The table names 3200 K, 4000 K and 6500 K. ⭐ The product sells 3000, 4000 and 5000 K. ⚠ Two of the three named colours are not available. ⭐ The figures themselves are almost certainly right for the colours actually sold — 84 to 96 lm/W across a warm-to-cool range is exactly the expected pattern — ⭐ but the labels are from a different specification. ⭐ We have published the output against the colours you can order and flagged the mismatch.

⭐ What SHADOW-LINE actually is, and why it is not a normal vanity light

• ⭐ It is an extruded aluminium profile with an opal PMMA diffuser — ⭐ a continuous line of light rather than a fitting with lamps in it.
• ⭐ THE CONSEQUENCE IS EVEN LIGHT ACROSS A FACE. ⭐ A vanity light made of two or three discrete lamps casts overlapping shadows and lights one side of a face more than the other; a continuous 600 mm line does not. ⭐ For shaving, makeup or anything involving looking at yourself properly, that evenness is the whole point.
• ⭐ MOUNT IT ABOVE THE MIRROR, NOT ON THE CEILING. ⭐ Light from directly overhead casts shadows into the eye sockets and under the chin, which is the least flattering and least useful arrangement. ⭐ Above the mirror at around 1,900 to 2,000 mm works for most people. ⭐ Two vertical strips either side of the mirror is better still, but that is a different product decision.
• ⭐ 6063 extruded aluminium with natural clear anodising is the substrate — ⭐ the same alloy and finish used for architectural glazing, which is why it holds up in a wet room.

⛔ Not dimmable, and that is worth knowing before you wire it

⭐ The sheet is explicit: dimmable = No. ⚠ Do not put it on a dimmer circuit — ⭐ a non-dimmable LED driver on a dimmer will flicker, buzz, or fail. ⭐ In a bathroom that is rarely a real loss: vanity lighting is task lighting and is usually wanted at full output or off. ⭐ If you want a dimmed bathroom, dim a separate ceiling or cove circuit and leave this one switched. ⭐ The driver can be remote or integral — the integral one is included, and the remote option matters when the wall cavity will not take the depth.

The lumen data settles it without asking anyone: at 6 W this gives 84, 90 and 96 lm/W and the 900 mm at 9 W gives exactly the same three numbers, while the published 9 W would give 56, 60 and 64 — matching nothing. IT IS 6 W. ⛔ AND ITS IP FIELD SAYS IP20 WHILE ITS OWN FOOTNOTE SAYS IP44 — on a vanity light above a basin that is the most consequential field on the page. We published neither and asked Domus; until confirmed, treat it as IP20.
