The Domus PLEX-VIVID is a 24 V single-colour COB LED strip — 15 W per metre, 640 LEDs per metre, IP54, 1 m, in Vivid Red, Blue, Green or Yellow.

⛔⛔ The four colours are not equally bright. They are not close.

• ⭐⭐ SAME PRODUCT. SAME 15 W PER METRE. SAME PRICE. ONE DROPDOWN APART. ⛔ And choosing Red instead of Green gives roughly a fifteenth of the light.
• ⭐ PART OF THAT IS THE EYE. ⭐ The lumen is defined against human sensitivity, which peaks in the green near 555 nm and falls away steeply toward red and blue. ⭐ But that curve alone predicts only about a 3× gap between green and red — ⭐ and the measured gap is 15.7×, more than five times the prediction.
• ⭐ THE REST IS THE EMITTER. ⭐ Deep-red LEDs use a different semiconductor from green and blue ones, and it is both less efficient to begin with and loses more output as it warms. ⭐ So red is doubly disadvantaged: the chip makes less light, and the eye discounts what it does make.
• ⭐⭐ THE BUYER'S POSITION IS THE SAME EITHER WAY. ⭐ If a scheme is designed around red, expect a quiet, deep, atmospheric effect rather than a bright one — ⭐ and if it needs to be bright, plan more strip, a closer mounting or a pale reflective surface behind it. ⛔ Nothing on the listing warns you.

⭐ Why single-colour rather than RGB

⭐ A saturated single-colour strip does something an RGB strip cannot: it produces a deep, pure colour at full output with no mixing. ⭐ An RGB strip making red uses only its red channel and leaves two thirds of the board dark — ⭐ so a dedicated red strip is brighter in red than an RGB strip of the same wattage. ⭐ And it needs a plain driver rather than a controller. ⚠ What you give up is the ability to change your mind — this is one colour, permanently.

⭐ Dotless at 640 LEDs per metre, and that matters for colour

⭐ Saturated colour shows dotting more than white does, ⭐ because a coloured point against a dark surface has more contrast than a white one against a lit surface. ⭐ At 640 LEDs per metre this reads as a continuous coloured line rather than a row of points — ⭐ which for a feature that exists to be looked at is the whole point. ⚠ The run limit that comes with that density is 5 m from one end, 10 m from two.

⛔⛔ Aluminium heat sink, mandatory

⭐ The sheet states it in capitals and voids the warranty without it. ⭐ At 15 W per metre this is one of the hotter strips in the range, so the requirement is not marginal. ⛔ No description says so. ⚠ Two datasheets are attached to this record and one is flagged contradicted; everything here is from the verified one.
