A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-SMD-9 IP67 is a 24 V SMD LED strip — 9 W per metre, 120 LEDs per metre, CRI ≥90, IP67, 1 m, at 650 / 687 / 725 lm per metre.
| 40 m of IP67 | Runs | ⭐ Cuts | Drivers | ⭐ Seal breaks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ⭐ PLEX-SMD-9 — this | ⭐ 1 | ⭐ 0 | ⭐ 1 | ⭐ 2 |
| PLEX-ULTRA IP67 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 5 |
| ⚠ PLEX-COB IP67 | ⚠ 4 | ⚠ 3 | 4 | ⚠ 11 |
⭐ 650 / 687 / 725 lm per metre here against the IP54 version's 765 / 810 / 855 — ⭐ losses of 15.0, 15.2 and 15.2%. ⭐⭐ That figure now holds across 23 measured pairs in four product families, spanning COB and SMD chips and both whites and saturated colours — ⭐ mean 15.4%. ⭐ It is the silicon absorbing light, and it applies whatever the strip. ⛔ Nothing in the catalogue states it. ⭐ So take IP67 for hosing, standing water and outdoor positions — and IP54 for a bathroom, where you keep the 15%.
⭐ The other long-running strip, PLEX-SMD-5, cuts every 100 mm. ⭐ This one cuts every 25. ⭐ So it is the only strip in the range that combines a long sealed run with a fine cutting increment — ⭐ which matters when the forty metres is actually a dozen separate lengths that each have to meet a dimension. ⚠ On a single continuous run it makes no difference at all.
⭐ The sheet requires it in capitals and voids the warranty without it. ⭐ A 40 m run means 40 m of profile, and on an external installation the profile also has to survive the exposure. ⛔ None of the catalogue's 47 profiles states its outdoor suitability. ⭐ Ask us before ordering.

SMD LED strip, IP67 silicon coated, 1 m. 9 W per metre at 24 V DC. 650 lm at 3000 K, 687 at 4000 K, 725 at 5000 K. 120 LEDs per metre. CRI ≥90. 120° beam. 25 mm cutting increment. Continuous run 20 m one-end, 40 m two-end. Aluminium heat sink mandatory. 3-year warranty. ⭐⭐ FORTY METRES OF SEALED STRIP ON A SINGLE DRIVER, WITH TWO OPENINGS IN THE COATING INSTEAD OF ELEVEN. On a sealed strip the run length is worth far more than on an unsealed one, because every intermediate cut breaks the silicon that provides the rating — and none of the range's connectors is rated above IP20, so every opening has to end up somewhere dry. ⭐ IT IS ALSO THE ONLY STRIP COMBINING A LONG SEALED RUN WITH A 25 mm CUTTING INCREMENT. ⚠ What you give up is the dotless line.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
20 metres from one end, 40 fed from both — with an IP67 silicon coating. No dotless strip comes close to that.
Because every intermediate cut breaks the coating that provides the rating. Forty metres of this is one run with zero cuts and two openings; forty metres of sealed PLEX-COB is four runs, three cuts and eleven openings. And none of the range's connectors is rated above IP20, so every opening has to end up somewhere dry — two is a non-problem, eleven is a layout problem.
The dotless line. 120 LEDs per metre is a row of points, not a continuous band. Behind a diffuser at distance it reads as a line; at close range or through a clear lens it does not. If the strip is visible, PLEX-ULTRA IP67 is dotless and still runs 13 metres.
About 15% — 650/687/725 lumens per metre here against the IP54 version's 765/810/855, so losses of 15.0, 15.2 and 15.2%. That figure now holds across 23 measured pairs in four product families, spanning COB and SMD chips and both whites and saturated colours, with a mean of 15.4%. It is the silicon absorbing light, and it applies whatever the strip.
Hosing, standing water and outdoor positions. For a bathroom take IP54 — it already covers indoor wet areas and you keep the 15%.
Unusually so for a long-running strip. The other long-runner, PLEX-SMD-5, cuts every 100mm; this cuts every 25. So it is the only strip in the range combining a long sealed run with a fine increment — which matters when the forty metres is actually a dozen separate lengths that each have to meet a dimension, and makes no difference at all on one continuous run.
The sheet requires an aluminium heat sink in capitals and voids the warranty without it, so a 40 metre run means 40 metres of profile — and on an external installation the profile also has to survive the exposure. None of the catalogue's 47 profiles states its outdoor suitability. Ask us before ordering.
