The Domus PLEX-SMD-9 IP67 is a 24 V SMD LED strip — 9 W per metre, 120 LEDs per metre, CRI ≥90, IP67, 1 m, at 650 / 687 / 725 lm per metre.

⭐⭐ 40 metres of sealed strip on a single driver

• ⭐ “Continuous Run: 20 m Max (one end driver feed) 40 m (two end driver feed)” — ⭐ with an IP67 silicon coating.
• ⭐⭐ ON A SEALED STRIP THE RUN LENGTH IS WORTH FAR MORE THAN ON AN UNSEALED ONE, ⭐ because every intermediate cut breaks the coating that provides the rating. ⭐ Compare forty metres of sealed strip three ways:

• ⭐ TWO OPENINGS INSTEAD OF ELEVEN. ⭐ On a wet-area or external run that is the difference between a layout problem and a non-problem — ⭐ because none of the range's connectors is rated above IP20, so every opening has to end up somewhere dry.
• ⚠ WHAT YOU GIVE UP IS THE DOTLESS LINE. ⭐ 120 LEDs per metre is a row of points, not a continuous band. ⭐ Behind a diffuser at distance it reads as a line; at close range or through a clear lens it does not.

⭐ And the coating costs the usual 15%

⭐ 650 / 687 / 725 lm per metre here against the IP54 version's 765 / 810 / 855 — ⭐ losses of 15.0, 15.2 and 15.2%. ⭐⭐ That figure now holds across 23 measured pairs in four product families, spanning COB and SMD chips and both whites and saturated colours — ⭐ mean 15.4%. ⭐ It is the silicon absorbing light, and it applies whatever the strip. ⛔ Nothing in the catalogue states it. ⭐ So take IP67 for hosing, standing water and outdoor positions — and IP54 for a bathroom, where you keep the 15%.

⭐ 25 mm cutting increment, which is unusual at this run length

⭐ The other long-running strip, PLEX-SMD-5, cuts every 100 mm. ⭐ This one cuts every 25. ⭐ So it is the only strip in the range that combines a long sealed run with a fine cutting increment — ⭐ which matters when the forty metres is actually a dozen separate lengths that each have to meet a dimension. ⚠ On a single continuous run it makes no difference at all.

⛔⛔ Aluminium heat sink, mandatory

⭐ The sheet requires it in capitals and voids the warranty without it. ⭐ A 40 m run means 40 m of profile, and on an external installation the profile also has to survive the exposure. ⛔ None of the catalogue's 47 profiles states its outdoor suitability. ⭐ Ask us before ordering.
