A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-SMD-9 is a 24 V SMD LED strip — 9 W per metre, 120 LEDs per metre, CRI ≥90, IP54, 50 m pack, at 765 / 810 / 855 lm per metre.
| 50 m option | Runs | Drivers | ⭐ Total light |
|---|---|---|---|
| PLEX-SMD-5 | ⭐ 1 | ⭐ 1 | ≈27,500 lm |
| ⭐ PLEX-SMD-9 — this | 2 | 2 | ⭐ ≈42,750 lm |
| PLEX-COB-10 | ⚠ 5 | ⚠ 5 | ≈50,000 lm |
⭐ Two drivers of about 270 W each on 25 m two-end runs. ⚠ Those are large units needing ventilated, accessible homes, ⭐ but two locations is a solvable problem where five is a design constraint. ⭐ 450 W total also means this wants its own circuit rather than a spare socket.
⭐ 25 mm, four times finer than the PLEX-SMD-5's 100 mm. ⭐ Across fifty metres of continuous run that rarely matters — ⚠ but if the fifty metres is actually twelve separate joinery lengths rather than one long line, it matters a great deal. ⭐ Tell us how the metres are divided and we will say which strip suits.
⭐ Fifty metres of run means fifty metres of profile. ⭐ The sheet states the requirement in capitals and voids the warranty without it. ⛔ No description says so and none of the catalogue's 47 profiles names this strip. ⭐ At 9 W per metre the thermal argument is stronger than on the 5 W strips too — ⭐ nearly twice the heat to carry away.
⭐ Fifty metres is a single production run, so both lengths match and any joins between them are invisible. ⭐ Beyond fifty metres, ask us for consecutive rolls from one batch — free to request and impossible afterwards.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| ⭐ Continuous run | ⭐ 20 m one-end · 40 m two-end |
| ⭐ So 50 m is | ⭐ 2 runs, 1 cut, 2 drivers |
| ⭐ Output | ⭐ 765 / 810 / 855 lm per metre — ⭐ ≈42,750 lm total |
| Load | 9 W per metre — ⭐ 450 W total |
| ⭐ Drivers | ⭐ 2 at ≈270 W — ⚠ large, ⭐ but only two |
| ⭐ Cutting increment | ⭐ 25 mm — ⭐ four times finer than the SMD-5 |
| ⚠ LED density | ⚠ 120 per metre — ⛔ not dotless |
| IP rating | IP54 — indoor including wet areas |
| ⛔ Aluminium heat sink | ⛔ MANDATORY — ⭐ 50 m of profile |
| ⭐ Batch | ⭐ One roll is one batch |

SMD LED strip, IP54, 50 m pack. 9 W per metre at 24 V DC, 450 W total, ≈42,750 lm. 120 LEDs per metre. CRI ≥90. 120° beam. 25 mm cutting increment. Continuous run 20 m one-end, 40 m two-end. Aluminium heat sink mandatory. 3-year warranty. ⭐ THE SENSIBLE MIDDLE AT FIFTY METRES: two runs and two drivers, buying 55% more light than the single-run 5 W strip for one extra driver — usually a good trade. Getting to the COB strip's output costs three more drivers on top of that, and buys a dotless line in exchange. ⭐ SO THE QUESTION IS AGAIN WHETHER THE STRIP IS SEEN. ⭐ And the 25 mm cutting increment travels with it, which matters if the fifty metres is twelve joinery lengths rather than one long line.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Two, with one cut and two drivers. The two-end feed limit is 40 metres, so fifty divides into two runs of 25. That is the fewest of any strip that gives real output — the single-run PLEX-SMD-5 manages fifty metres on one driver but gives 500 to 550 lumens per metre against this strip's 765 to 855.
This buys 55% more light than the 5W strip for one extra driver, which is usually a good trade. Getting to the COB strip's output costs three more drivers on top of that and buys a dotless line in exchange. So the question is again whether the strip is seen: if it is concealed, this is the sensible middle; if it is visible, pay the five drivers and take the COB.
Two of about 270W each, on 25 metre two-end runs. Those are large units needing ventilated, accessible homes — but two locations is a solvable problem where five is a design constraint. At 450 watts total this also wants its own circuit rather than a spare socket.
It depends how the fifty metres is divided. Across one continuous run, rarely. If the fifty metres is actually twelve separate joinery lengths, it matters a great deal — this cuts every 25mm against the PLEX-SMD-5's 100mm, so each length lands much closer to its target. Tell us how the metres are divided and we will say which strip suits.
About 42,750 lumens across the roll at 5000K, from 450 watts. For comparison, the same fifty metres of PLEX-SMD-5 gives about 27,500 and the PLEX-COB-10 about 50,000.
Yes, fifty metres of it. The sheet states the requirement in capitals and voids the warranty without it, and no description says so — nor does any of the catalogue's 47 profiles name this strip. At 9W per metre the thermal argument is stronger than on the 5W strips too: nearly twice the heat to carry away.
Yes. Fifty metres is a single production run, so both lengths come from the same batch and any join between them is invisible. Beyond fifty metres, ask us for consecutive rolls from one batch — free to request and impossible afterwards.
