A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-RGB COB is a 24 V RGB COB LED strip — 14 W per metre, 840 LEDs per metre, IP54, dimmable, 1 m.
| Density | One LED every | ⭐ What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 70 / m | 14.29 mm | ⛔ Will dot badly without real depth |
| 120 / m | 8.33 mm | ⚠ Needs a deep profile |
| 140 / m (PLEO flex) | 7.14 mm | ⭐ Diffused by the flex itself |
| 480–640 / m | 2.08–1.56 mm | ⭐ Effectively continuous |
| ⭐ 840 / m — this one | ⭐ 1.19 mm | ⭐ Dotless |
⭐ If you have been choosing profiles by depth to avoid dots, the density figure is the one that decides it — ⚠ and it is stated in fewer than half the strip titles and on none of the profile pages.
⭐ Chip-on-board. ⭐ Rather than discrete LED packages spaced along a board, the emitters sit under a continuous phosphor layer — ⭐ so there are no individual packages to see through a diffuser and nothing to scallop. ⭐ It is a different construction, not simply a denser version of the same thing. ⭐ Domus also notes “longer areas of weldless joints”, which means fewer places along the strip where continuity can break.
⭐ This is an RGB strip, so it needs a 24 V DC driver and a colour controller. ⭐ Unusually for this catalogue, the listing NAMES one: the CHAM-BT-RF-5C 5 Channel Controller and LED Driver. ⭐ Five channels is more than RGB alone requires — ⭐ so the same controller covers the wider PLEX family, including tuneable-white and RGB+TW strips. ⭐ Tell us the strip and the run and we will quote the controller with it.

RGB COB LED strip, 1 m. 14 W per metre at 24 V DC. 840 LEDs per metre, dotless. IP54. 25 mm cutting increments. Maximum run 5 m with a single tail and driver, 10 m with a tail and driver at each end. Dimmable. CHAM-BT-RF-5C 5-channel controller and LED driver. ⭐⭐ 840 LEDs PER METRE IS ONE EVERY 1.19 mm, AND THAT ENDS THE DOTTING QUESTION. Everywhere else in this catalogue, choosing a profile means buying DEPTH so the individual LEDs blend into a line. At this density they have already blended — so with COB the profile's depth stops being an optical decision and becomes purely a mechanical one. ⭐ Measured across 103 strip and flex listings, the published densities span twelvefold, from 70 per metre to 840.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
One LED every 1.19mm — and Domus calls the result a "true dotless appearance". Everywhere else in this catalogue, choosing a strip means worrying about whether you will see individual LEDs through the diffuser, and the answer has always been profile depth: distance between the emitters and the diffuser so the points blend. At 1.19mm spacing there is no gap to bridge.
Not for optical reasons. With COB at this density the profile's depth stops being an optical decision and becomes purely a mechanical one — protection, a straight line, a finished edge, a recess detail. That is a genuine simplification, because depth versus reveal height is the trade that complicates every other profile choice.
We measured it across the catalogue: of 103 strip and flex listings, 45 state a density, and the spread is twelvefold. 70 per metre is one every 14.29mm and will dot badly without real depth. 120 per metre needs a deep profile. The PLEO flex publishes 140. From 480 upward it is effectively continuous, and 840 is dotless.
Chip-on-board. Rather than discrete LED packages spaced along a board, the emitters sit under a continuous phosphor layer — so there are no individual packages to see through a diffuser and nothing to scallop. It is a different construction, not simply a denser version of the same thing. Domus also notes longer areas of weldless joints, meaning fewer places where continuity can break.
IP54 is dust-protected and splash-protected, which covers the applications Domus names — kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, bars and restaurants, where there is steam, splashing and cleaning but not immersion. An IP67 version of the identical strip exists for anywhere it could be hosed, sits in a floor detail that gets mopped, or goes outdoors under cover. The rating is the only difference between the two.
A 24V DC driver and a colour controller. Unusually for this catalogue, the listing names one: the CHAM-BT-RF-5C 5 Channel Controller and LED Driver. Five channels is more than RGB alone requires, so the same controller covers the wider PLEX family including tuneable-white and RGB+TW strips. Tell us the strip and the run and we will quote it with them.
5 metres with a single tail and driver, or 10 metres with a tail and driver at each end. Domus publishes both figures, which is unusual and useful. Note that is considerably shorter than the PLEO neon flex, which reaches 20 metres from one feed — worth knowing before you plan a long run on COB.
