A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-COB-5 is a 24 V COB LED strip — 5 W per metre, 640 LEDs per metre, CRI ≥90, IP54, 5 m pack, at 450 / 500 / 500 lm per metre.
| Constraint | ⭐ Here | At the demanding end |
|---|---|---|
| Load over 5 m | ⭐ 25 W | 100 W (COB-20) |
| Driver | ⭐ 30 W — hides in joinery | ⛔ 120 W — its own space |
| Reach | ⭐ Furthest in the range | ⚠ Shortest |
| Coating penalty | ⭐ None — IP54 | ⚠ −15% (IP67) |
| Cost of a cut | ⭐ Nothing — no seal | ⛔ Breaks the IP67 coating |
| Cuts needed | ⭐ None — 5 m is one run | — |
| Appearance | ⭐ Identical — same 640 LEDs per metre | |
⭐ The aluminium heat sink is mandatory at every wattage. ⭐ The datasheet states it in capitals and voids the warranty without it, and seventeen strip sheets in the range repeat it. ⛔ No description says it and none of the catalogue's 47 profiles mentions PLEX-COB. ⭐ Five metres of strip needs five metres of profile — ⭐ which for this format is a modest addition, and worth building into the habit from the start.
⭐ The sheet allows 5 m from one end and 10 m from two. ⭐ So a single pack is one complete run, and two packs fed from their outer ends make a ten metre continuous line on one driver. ⭐ On IP54, where a cut costs nothing, that is simply a cheaper way to buy ten metres than a 20 m roll you cut down. ⚠ Nothing on the page connects the pack size to the run limit.
⭐ The sheet publishes 450 lm at 3000 K and 500 at 4000 and 5000 K — ⭐ so 90 to 100 lm/W. ⭐ High colour rendering always costs efficiency, because the phosphors that fill in the spectrum absorb light doing it, ⭐ so 100 lm/W alongside CRI ≥90 is a good balance. ⭐ A CRI80 strip would be brighter per watt and noticeably worse on skin tones, timber and anything coloured — ⭐ which in a kitchen or a wardrobe is exactly where the light lands.

COB LED strip, 5 m pack. 5 W per metre at 24 V DC, 25 W total. 450 lm at 3000 K, 500 lm at 4000 and 5000 K. 640 LEDs per metre, dotless. CRI ≥90. IP54. 180° beam. 25 mm cutting increment. Driver approximately 30 W. 3-year warranty. ⭐⭐ SIX CONSTRAINTS RELAX AT ONCE HERE AND THE LOOK DOES NOT CHANGE: lowest load, a 30 W driver you can hide in joinery, the longest reach in the range, no IP67 coating penalty, cuts that cost nothing, and a pack length that is already one complete run. ⭐ START HERE ON ANY JOB and step up only where a position demands it. ⛔ THE ONE CONSTRAINT THAT NEVER RELAXES is the mandatory aluminium heat sink.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
Because six constraints relax at once and the look does not change. 25W over five metres instead of 100, a 30W driver you can hide in joinery instead of a 120W one needing its own space, the longest reach in the range, no IP67 coating penalty, cuts that cost nothing, and a pack length that is already one complete run — all at the same 640 LEDs per metre, so it is equally dotless.
On a bench you actually chop on. 450 to 500 lumens per metre is comfortable for a cove, a shadow gap, a shelf line, a stair nosing or under a wall cabinet, but a genuine task surface wants 15 or 20W per metre. Step up there and nowhere else.
The aluminium heat sink. It is mandatory at every wattage — the datasheet states it in capitals and voids the warranty without it, and seventeen strip sheets in the range repeat it. No description says so and none of the catalogue's 47 profiles mentions PLEX-COB. Five metres of strip needs five metres of profile.
Yes. The sheet allows 5 metres from one end and 10 from two, so two packs fed from their outer ends make a ten metre continuous line on one driver. On IP54, where a cut costs nothing, that is simply a cheaper way to buy ten metres than a 20m roll you cut down. Nothing on the page connects the pack size to the run limit.
For CRI ≥90, yes. High colour rendering always costs efficiency — the phosphors that fill in the spectrum absorb light doing it — so 100 lm/W alongside CRI90 is a good balance rather than a compromise.
Brighter per watt, and noticeably worse on skin tones, timber and anything coloured — which in a kitchen or a wardrobe is exactly where the light lands. The CRI90 chip is the right call for the positions this strip is used in.
Yes. Domus's own framing is "indoor strip including wet areas", which covers kitchens, bathrooms and laundries — steam and splashing. What it does not cover is hosing, standing water or an outdoor position, and those want the IP67 version, which costs about 15% of the light and makes every cut a breach of the seal.
