A suggestion, not a specification. A calculator can get it wrong — have a licensed electrician confirm the driver, the total load and the wiring before you order.
The Domus PLEX-COB-5 is a 24 V COB LED strip — 5 W per metre, 640 LEDs per metre, CRI90, IP54, 1 m, in 2700 K.
| Over a 5 m run | ⭐ PLEX-COB-5 | PLEX-COB-20 |
|---|---|---|
| Load | ⭐ 25 W | 100 W |
| Driver | ⭐ 30 W — hides in joinery | ⛔ 120 W — its own space |
| Current per metre | ⭐ 0.21 A | 0.83 A |
| Reach | ⭐ Furthest in the range | ⚠ Shortest |
| Heat from the driver | ⭐ ≈4 W | ≈18 W |
| Appearance | ⭐ Identical — same 640 LEDs per metre | |
⭐ This listing sells 2700 K — ⭐ warmer than 3000 K and closer to a traditional incandescent lamp. ⭐ Across the PLEX-COB range, 2700 K exists only on the 5 W and 10 W models — ⛔ there is none at 15 or 20 W at all (0 of 10 PLEX-COB-20 listings). ⭐ Which is coherent: 2700 K is a domestic, atmospheric colour, and it lives at the wattages used for atmosphere. ⭐ Combined with 5 W per metre in a cove, it is the softest, warmest line this range produces.
⭐ Because the question this range really poses is “how bright do I actually need?”, and that is only answerable in the position. ⭐ A metre of 5 W held under the actual cabinet, against the actual stone, in the actual room, answers it in ten seconds — ⭐ and if it is enough, everything downstream gets smaller and simpler. ⚠ You need a small 24 V driver to try it; ⭐ tell us it is for a sample and we will suggest the smallest sensible one.

COB LED strip, 1 m. 5 W per metre at 24 V DC. 640 LEDs per metre, dotless. CRI90. 2700 K. IP54. ⭐⭐ THE 5 W STRIP IS NOT A COMPROMISE VERSION — IT IS THE ONE WITH THE FEWEST CONSEQUENCES. Smallest driver (30 W over five metres, small enough to hide in joinery, against 120 W), longest reach, least heat, fewest feed points, and on an IP67 job the fewest cuts. ⭐ AND IT LOOKS IDENTICAL: the same 640 LEDs per metre as every other wattage. ⭐ THE ONLY QUESTION IS WHETHER IT GIVES ENOUGH LIGHT — and buying a metre of this beside a metre of the 10 W is the cheapest design decision available.
Supplied and supported by Lights For You.
No — it is the one with the fewest consequences. Smallest driver, longest reach, least heat, fewest feed points, and on an IP67 job the fewest cuts. And it looks identical to every other wattage, because they all carry the same 640 LEDs per metre.
A great deal. Over a 5 metre run the 5W strip needs a 30W driver — small enough to hide inside joinery. The 20W strip over the same five metres needs 120W, which is roughly a large paperback, generates real heat and needs its own ventilated space. That is a joinery consequence of a brightness choice.
The 5W strip draws 0.21A per metre against the 20W strip's 0.83A, and voltage drop follows current — so it reaches furthest in the range. On a long cove or a continuous line, that means fewer feed points and fewer drivers before you even consider the load.
For surfaces genuinely worked at — a kitchen bench, a workbench, a task position. For a cove, a shadow gap, a shelf line, a stair nosing or any decorative run, 5W per metre usually does the job. Reserve the higher wattages for where the light is being used rather than seen.
Buy a metre of this and a metre of the 10W and compare them in the actual position. It costs two metres of strip and settles a question that otherwise gets guessed — and if the 5W is enough, everything downstream gets smaller and simpler. It is the cheapest design decision available on this range.
Because 2700K exists only on the 5W and 10W models across the whole PLEX-COB range — there is none at 15 or 20W at all. That is coherent: 2700K is a domestic, atmospheric colour and it lives at the wattages used for atmosphere. Combined with 5W per metre in a cove, it is the softest, warmest line this range produces.
A small 24V driver. Tell us it is for a sample and we will suggest the smallest sensible one rather than the size the final run would need. It is worth doing properly — a metre held up unlit tells you nothing.
